'-Having a Digimon partner is not required. While the premiss allows the option of finding and bonding with a Digimon, it is not necessary for a character to release their full potential. The plot is more focused on characters discovering and building upon the Crest trait they embody.'
Um I guess we have different views when it comes to the Digimon thing but aren't Digimon partners needed to help embody the Crest and all that?
Guess the best example I can throw out right now is Yamato Ishida from the original 001 show. He has the Crest of Friendship which was a far cry from his original attitude. Yamato tried to be aloof and a loner, pushing people away that aren't his brother (and even then he does with his slight smothering). But his partner, Gabumon, was almost his exact opposite. He was caring, affable and loyal to Yamato. To the point he gave up his skin... coat... thing in that episode where they were briefly separated from Taichi and got lost in that storm. (Details are fuzzy but basically that.) Not all the Digimon partners were like that, I know, but they were essential to helping get the character to tap into the Crest's quality. Seeing they were the signs that the Crest worked properly if they evolved in their form and all.
