Your first awareness that something has gone wrong comes during a groggy moment of semi-lucidity when you look around yourself and find that -- instead of wherever you remember being last -- you're in a chair, in a room with a man you don't recognize. He's sitting behind a desk whistling to himself and sorting paperwork. The whole atmosphere might remind you of a high school guidance counselor's office, only with far more comfortable chairs.

When your head clears enough to speak and you ask him where you are, he smiles brightly and says, "Welcome to the City of Ariel."

cityofariel is a pan-fandom, dystopian sex game set on the ruins of a world fairly similar to Earth in its climates and geography. The similarities end there, however.

What outwardly appears to be an idyllic utopia is actually a terrifying reality. Pleasure is a tool used to keep the population sedate and compliant. It is subtly enforced by various brainwashing methods and constant stimulation.

There is a subset of the population who have no love for the way the powers that be are controlling the people. There are rumors of rebellious groups living far outside the city walls in hidden encampments. Those elements of society are hard to find, however, and asking around for them won't do you any favors. They do occasionally stage raids on the outer parts of the city, taking some of the less well indoctrinated. So, you can always hope to be in the wrong place at the right time.

Sex is a requirement for this game. Smut threads are not only part of the AC, they are the AC. Players who apply to this game should be aware of the following:

◆ There will be kink. Hopefully, there will be lots and lots of freaky kink. The sort that you just don't see played out in most other places. The freakier the better. This is your warning.

◆ Triggery things will be permitted. Under-aged sex, non-con, dub-con, bestiality, guro... you name it. If you don't want to deal with that, this isn't the place for you. This is your other warning.

◆ There will be no kink shaming. Period. We don't care how repellent you find a kink, act, or thread to be, we don't want to hear about it. This is what you signed up for. So long as triggers are properly warned for and put behind cuts, they're fine.

◆ Fade-to-black does not exist here. Neither does handwaving.

◆ Creepy, harassing behavior will not be tolerated. After the first, documented instance of creeping, you will receive one warning. Your second warning will be removal from the game.
