A Surana that was never recruited by Duncan during a Warden Cousland playthrough. Since all the stories still happen no matter which one you pick, the opening stories from each other origin are still canon (discounting Duncan's presence). Anything that happens to them after that, however, would have to be headcanon'd and I have a Surana I like playing that was not recruited and instead ended up in the tower when Uldred was torturing everyone (after being punished/interrogated by the Templars) and was one of the unnamed mages saved by Cousland.
