On a little world on the far side of the universe, the denizens of Penrose Castle were charged with keeping an eternal light safe. If anything were to ever happen to darken the worlds' horizons again, if there was ever a darkness too great for even a Keyblade to cut through, there would always be a way to restore the light.
SAUDADE is a panfandom game set on a small world called Penrose, where thanks to these daft and dewy-eyed dopes who keep building up impossible hopes, impossible things are happening every day! And yes, references are kind of a thing with the mods. You'll notice that while reading the game info pages. The most impossible of things to happen lately is that Finders - people trained to explore the darkness without succumbing to it - are discovering people who have incredible Strength of Heart to withstand the darkness, or wield it! That of course is where your character comes in.
SAUDADE is run on a 3:1 OOC:IC game day schedule with an emphasis on Missions to other worlds. Some of those worlds will have already had their Lanterns lit - our large, mostly immobile macguffin item for this game - and simply need checked in on. However, lots of worlds will also need to have their Lanterns lit in the first place, and those Missions will always be more challenging. Thus we as mods will be placing special emphasis on our Game Calendar, encouraging player-run plots, and exploring their character relationships. This is why we do intro-logs with 2-3 characters to build up some initial CR when you're found together in the Darkness -- you become Foundlings, treated kinda like siblings.
No character apped into the game is forced to stay there; they are all there because they chose not to stay in the darkness, or chose not to remain on a world during a Mission, etc. This ship runs on happy faces! So no frowning. No accidental posts either.
Speaking of apps, AUs and OCs welcome. We also accept some kinds of doubles, which we collectively refer to as Remixes in our game language. No matter your character preference, there's an app for that. As moderators, we'll have different criteria by which we judge, for example but not limited to, major canon characters (Beginner Mode) versus Minor characters (Standard Mode) versus Post-Game/CRAU/Carryover Applications (Proud Mode) versus Canon OCs (Critical Mode).
AC is every two-weeks by the mods after the initial game opening month, but each activity check's requirements we hope are fairly easy to uphold. This means we really want players to be diligently tagging the Network and Logs communities, or we can't find your activity - that's the trade off.
