well, tbh evangelion and pacific rim weren't my thing, but i'm also not terribly picky because it was mainly the characters that bored me and not the actual setting SO IF I HAD SOMEONE EXPLAIN TO ME i might be able to grasp it. i really like historical AUs like pirates, victorian, medieval, film noir; alternate histories/futures such as steampunk and/or apocalypse, post-apocalypse, dystopia; dark themes such as vigilantism, slavery and/or human trafficking, organised crime. haha i can go on and on.
