The game itself is high fantasy with two courts warring for power. You can either play into the war or let your character do your own thing. There's usually opportunities to send your character on different sorts of quests, whether it's part of a mod-run plot or something you do on your own. Otherwise AC is very easy and the pace is fairly relaxed.
