If you don't mind AUs, might I suggest xavier_institute? It's set in the world of Marvel's X-Men, where characters are AU'd into the game as mutants. The plot revolves around this, and living in a world that still largely hates and/or fears mutants. Familiar faces from the comics and other media, of course, show up frequently, but character lead missions are usually the spotlight events every month or so. We are definitely backtag friendly, as a result.
