You've arrived in a world where nothing stays the same for long! Aside from stabilized areas, the entire planet warps and changes. Ruins? Old temples? Forests? Giant alien cityscapes? Everything and anything can be found here, only... everything is abandoned and in various states of disarray. There are dangerous creatures lurking about too...
There is however a single, stable, area of land where a small city has been built, and it's here that you arrive. In the center of this area, there is 'The Gateway'. It's where everyone arrives and leaves the world from, but there is no guarantee that it will let you go to and from your world as you wish... but you are far from stuck... most of the time.
The stable area, also known as 'Gate Town', has shops, homes, apartments, roads and farms... It might not be the prettiest place, but at least it's a safe place to hang your hat, store your belongings and rest. There is no real 'traffic' in town, since most locals (npcs) use carts and wagons to get around... cars, buses and so on are permitted, but the locals are not fond of the things as they tear up the roads.
Land can be stabilized for personal use, either through magic or science... but it's not easy and must be renewed periodically.
Leaving the stable land is dangerous, but can also be very rewarding! There is no end to what can be found out there! And the shops in town will pay well for items from 'the mysterious lands'. One should have no trouble paying for a place to stay, food and supplies ... If you're willing to work for it.
