Premise

The dollmaker, Tom, doesn't like to talk about himself, or the ferals, or the plague. He doesn't like to talk about much of anything except in the most generic, rose-colored terms. He'll cheerfully regale you with the tales he'd hear from his neighbor Finnbarr, from before the- from before. Finnbarr was a fisherman, like most everyone in Byrgen. He'd always have a new, grand story of a canoe-sized bass, or another tall tale of sighting a mer. Though maybe those weren’t just stories, after all. You'll have a little more luck with Marie, who lives in one of Tom's dollhouses (she's a fairy, you see). She's talkative enough, if you give her a reason to let you stick around; it generally involves moving things. She'll tell you that they thought it was lycanthropy at first. Which wasn't wrong, necessarily. It's just that they missed a few species. Bagshot Heath, across the channel? It's not a city, or country, exactly, more like a conglomeration of hamlets and villages. They cared a lot more about keeping the plague from spreading than saving Byrgen. "Treatment" was left to the church, instead. They attended to the unnatural transformations with a liberal application of fire, silver, and prayer. It didn't help much. The changes were distressing to everyone involved. Itching skin as fur grew out where it had never been before. Skull-splitting pain as bones shifted to make room for horns. Flesh sloughing off, revealing scales or rubbery skin underneath. But it wasn't truly dangerous until the instincts started to emerge. The unaffected and those of more 'gentle' transformations were soon finding themselves at the mercy of their old friends and neighbors, filled with supernatural strength and speed, and terrifying, sadistic urges. When it got out just how bad things were getting, the people across the channel decided not to take any chances. They cut off contact, and the quarantine became enforced by guns and canons. They weren't coming to help. In three months, the town was half empty, either dead or having run off into the forest. Another couple months after that? Well, look around. Then new people started to appear. People like you. Marie will tell you that the change is gonna start soon, probably. She might ask if she can 'play with you' at some point, which is a euphemism. For sex. Most things are euphemisms for sex in Byrgen, because that's how you keep sane: sex. It's not like there's anything better to do with your time, anyway. What are you gonna do? Break quarantine? Cure the disease? Yeah, right. Right? … townofsalem is a fantasy creature themed sex game. Your characters will find themselves meeting, greeting, and transforming into a variety of humanoid creatures – each with their own otherworldly powers. They’ll have to tread lightly, and get to know one another intimately, if they want to keep their minds from shifting, too. The game is focused on survival, world building, and exploration. Characters must work together in order to uncover the truth behind the strange transformations afflicting them, while navigating the strange world that’s trapped them.
