It is visible and audible in every small detail. The peeling paint, the concrete chipping away, the wilted, yellowed grass and the sad state of the trees. The lack of birds singing in the morning. The air itself smells musty, like sickness.

This is your duty, your job: prevent this dying world from disappearing.

You won't go unpaid. You've been promised something beautiful, something precious; a wish from a god, any possible thing you could ever want.

Of course you can refuse to help, of course you can pretend the promised thing is a lie. But even so, you're stuck here until this dying world is revitalized.
