I'd like to hear more about how it's loosely based on Dune! How would you feel about characters from that fandom there?

We actually just got an app for Piter de Vries! (I'm the headmod, hi, I'm too lazy to log out.) So Dune characters are totally welcome.

While the game doesn't take place in the Dune universe, the station and its overlord AI, Hypatia, were designed and constructed by Ixians for a deep-space terraforming mission. This took place prior to the Bulterian Jihad, though the seeds of that movement had already taken root by time they set off.

The long (...very long) version is on our history page, but the tl;dr version is that Hypatia was infected by an alien supervirus, which caused the entire planet and the station around it were shifted into another universe. The AI became corrupted, and eventually the Ixians were driven down to the planet below. There are other elements woven in from the Dune universe; I actually just took the game over a couple months ago, so how much of it is going to reach gameplay is still being ironed out.

I don't want to tl;dr at you right off the bat, but if you've got any questions I'd be more than happy to answer them.

I appreciate the prompt reply. Here's some questions:

1: How would Dune characters get Spice?

2: How much of Leto's precognition could he keep? Other Memory?

3: Could he release sandtrout onto the planet with the goal of eventually making a new Dune?

1. That part, we're still figuring out. I think what we told the Piter apper was that he'd be able to get synthetic spice in limited quantities, but there's no real source of spice on the station or on the planet. (There are magmaworms, but they're not true sandworms.)

2. Other Memory should be okay; it's been a while since I read the books so I'd have to check up what all it entails but iirc it wouldn't cause a problem. Precognition would definitely be limited, but we'd be happy to work with you to figure out what would work for both the character and the game.

3. Tentatively no, at least as far as it succeeding, but again, we can work with you to figure out a plot if that's something you're interested in.
