Have I offered [profile] thuisia before? Because the mods lowered the AC down to '1 post + 1 comment thread' as an option (or a number of comments per month). And I would love canonmates.

Zel . . . *wistful grabby fingers* You are a rare beast. :/

I think I have looked at Thusia before, but would probably prefer a mixture of some prose writing along with the action posts and regular posts . . . I think I also got confused with the item part of it. (Unless I'm not remembering right, at which point I fail.)

. . . Don't suppose you're ever open to one-on-one stuff? ^^;
nolongerslate: (c - plotting)

[personal profile] nolongerslate 2013-03-03 12:38 am (UTC)(link)
I don't know; I haven't done much one on one stuff.

(Item part? The only rule I remember is that characters can arrive with two items on their person, selected from things that would be near to hand.)

I also wouldn't mind breaking off and playing a more canon Zel in another game, since the one I play in Thusia has had years enough of play (he was in a game previous to this one) that I won't have my normal problem of crossing wires when I try to play a character in two places.
dustonmyfeet: (hmm)

[personal profile] dustonmyfeet 2013-03-03 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
I understand. But if you do have interest, I'd be glad to give it a try.

. . . Looking back at this game, I think the item thing was part of a completely different one. ^^; Sorry for the confusion! The other thing, though, was the death part . . . That would probably be a little heavy on Amelia.

I'd totally be willing to look at a second game if you have interest in starting a second Zel. (And I completely understand the crossed wires part.) What do you like in a game? Are there any that have caught your eye?

I don't know -- mostly something not too big or fast, with an interesting premise (which I can't really define).

I might also ask around to see what games people I'm friends with are in (mostly by seeing which people on Plurk are talking about).

What about you?
dustonmyfeet: (seismic sense)

[personal profile] dustonmyfeet 2013-03-03 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
I have a hard time defining what makes something interesting too.

I've looked at a few different things . . . I'm aiming to go ahead and app Toph in [community profile] somarium. I know people who are heading towards [community profile] exsilium, which I've done pretty much no research on, so I'm not sure I could tell you much. I was also taking a look at one point at [community profile] tushanshu.

Otherwise, I'm afraid that's why I'm here. ^^; I've been off the market for some time in [community profile] sirenspull, which I loved desperately, but which will be closing in the next couple months. I'm not sure what's out there these days.

[personal profile] nolongerslate 2013-03-03 02:04 am (UTC)(link)
I've also looked at [community profile] tushanshu; the setting looks interesting. A friend of mine also is trying to drum up players for [community profile] witchesreign. I've played at [community profile] exsilium before (as Amelia, in fact), but found myself unable to keep up.

There were a few others I was looking at, but darned if I can remember them now. And, besides Thusia, I'm in one game with a gi-normous waiting list (Aather), one game that is closing in a couple of months (Jarjammed), and one game that has uncertain status.
dustonmyfeet: (dust on my feet)

[personal profile] dustonmyfeet 2013-03-03 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
I think I'd be willing to give [community profile] tushanshu a try if you're interested. (Or if you have another idea, still open! Don't want to rush you into anything.)

I think I've heard of Aather and its enormous waiting list. ^^; And man, I remember when Jarjammed was being advertised to open. I didn't play, but . . . it makes me feel weird to think about.

Sadly, I have no casts to offer, just love for characters, over at [community profile] witchesreign... I'd get a kick out of seeing either Amelia or Toph there. (Not that I'm picky!) It's set in the Final Fantasy VIII world, and characters are students or graduates of Balamb Garden. We're having a fourth wall event starting tomorrow if you want to check it out!

[personal profile] dustonmyfeet 2013-03-03 12:38 am (UTC)(link)
No casts necessary! I've been a lone canon warrior more often than I've had casts, I think.

Thanks -- I'll have a look!

I would love to have Toph or a Howl's Moving Castle character over at [community profile] entranceway. I can't offer cast mates, although you are giving me Zuko ideas xD I think we cover all your preferences, too - there is an overarching plot at eway, events can involve horror but don't have to, there is minimal memory loss, the player base is very welcoming (we have an AIM chat, too, for nice, crazy talks), and backdating is done to infinity and beyond. Let me give you a little info dump ;)

It's a slow to medium-paced game with a wide variety of characters/casts. The premise is based on Wonderland, and the world is ruled by the Queen of Hearts. There are plot-driven events that feature not only the Queen of Hearts and her agenda, but also the Mirrors, a unique game-feature that allows you to create an "evil" (or just hilariously opposite) version of your character to mess things up for your real character. It's a fun concept!

Wonderland also has a habit of taking part of who you are and using it against you. Meaning we often have plots inspired by the players and their characters' canons, and these range from horror to humour depending on the content. Wonderland is very much what we make of it, in addition to what it is on its own! Memory loss occurs on a very small scale, with the characters from the event-canon forgetting certain words only.

AC is easy to meet, too, and I can vouch for a very welcoming, open-armed player community. We have an AIM group chat, people are really game for cross-canon CR and plotting to your heart's delight.

I hope I could pique your interest a little and if you have questions, feel free to ask :3

[personal profile] dustonmyfeet 2013-03-03 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
It does pique my interest. Especially with Zuko ideas. ;)

I'm not sure I understand the forgetting words part . . . Like . . . a character "forgets" the word "the?"
freetobe: ([calm] soul stare)

[personal profile] freetobe 2013-03-03 01:36 am (UTC)(link)
The forgotten word is up to the players of that canon. Say, you were in the game and decided to submit an event based on Toph's canon, you could decide she forgets the word "bending" or something equally big/invasive..... but she could also simply forget the phrase "melon lord". How affected the characters are basically depends entirely on the players in that canon, so if you don't want any big memory losses, you can do that, and if you want Toph to forget "Bei Fong" and therefore her family, you can do that, too.
dustonmyfeet: (seismic sense)

[personal profile] dustonmyfeet 2013-03-03 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
So it's not just the word, but the memory behind it?
freetobe: ([sad] wistful)

[personal profile] freetobe 2013-03-03 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
Again, pretty much up to player discretion. For example, I recently submitted an event specifying that if it takes place, "Supernatural" cast members will not only forget the word "Chrysler Building", but also the fact that it exists. I could have left it at "They forget the building's name". If you take "Bei Fong" as an example, you could have Toph simply forget her family name and be unable to recall it - or you could dig deep and say "she forget her entire family". It all depends on if you want the memory loss to factor into your game play or not, so if you don't like memory loss, you can be all "yeah, she forgets the phrase melon lord, no big". And then, of course, she only forgets something in the first place if you submit at event from her canon. And if you do, it's totally your choice how much/little she would forget ;) In theory you ca play at entranceway for years and not have your character forget anything they would ever notice missing from their memories.
dustonmyfeet: (startle)

[personal profile] dustonmyfeet 2013-03-03 02:02 am (UTC)(link)
Life without the melon lord would be sad, though! :(

Hm . . . I will take another look! I was intrigued, but I remember something beyond the memory loss puzzlement holding me back. Heck if I can remember what that was at the moment, though, so it's definitely worth a look with fresh eyes.

How is the pacing?
freetobe: ([explain] you see how it is)

[personal profile] freetobe 2013-03-03 02:06 am (UTC)(link)
Ha ha, if it pops up again, feel free to ask me. Really, so far I haven't seen a character seriously experiencing the memory loss. The implication is that Wonderland slowly but surely takes memories, but at such a slow pace that your character might not notice it happening for years.

The pacing is medium overall, I would say. We have phases in which there are two or three new posts in a day, but that's definitely not every day and mostly around events or when new characters arrive. There is a steady stream of activity, but you can definitely stay on top of things even when you don't check into the game EVERY day.
dustonmyfeet: (hmm)

[personal profile] dustonmyfeet 2013-03-03 03:16 am (UTC)(link)
Good to know. Thanks! I'll let you know if I end up with any more questions. You have been truly awesome. :)

Hi! I am here to request that you bring Toph to [community profile] revenance_rpg to give Bolin and Asami a hard time about being Team Avatar 2.0. Bolin could also do with some hard core earth bending training because that is some CR I would kill for.

Revenance is a small, panfandom game set in the world of Kingdom Hearts (specifically Dream, Drop Distance) but a knowledge of the series is not required since the mods provide you with the basic information in the FAQ/Info pages. It's very easy AC and also has an overarching plot which is slowly revealing itself. In fact, I'm not sure we really fail any of our preferences and while Asami and Bolin aren't TECHNICALLY castmates I think they are still related enough to count, right?

8D Please consider us.

[personal profile] dustonmyfeet 2013-03-03 02:53 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, man, I forgot about that one. I'd been curious about it. I'll take a second look!

Meanwhile, though, it looks like you're part of [community profile] somarium? I have Toph reserved over there.

But I *love* the idea of Toph and Bolin interacting. They would be amazing and epic. <3

Though if Bolin tells her she has a daughter in the future, I think that might break her brain. ^^;

[personal profile] buymedumplings 2013-03-03 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
LOL, yes, I'm Bolin at both places. SO IT LOOKS LIKE I GET A TOPH EITHER WAY! HAH!

Actually, we had a Toph at Somarium. Bolin learned some metal bending stuff from her and was training under her for awhile (because you do not turn down training from THE Toph BeiFong). IDK if daughter talk came up though, lol.

They would be awesome bros.
dustonmyfeet: (startle)

[personal profile] dustonmyfeet 2013-03-03 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
I'm all excited now. XD

. . . Except I've never played a character that had a previous version there before. This will be a bit strange, and Toph is going to fuss.

Do I need to continue what the previous player did if I'm accepted?
buymedumplings: (Default)

[personal profile] buymedumplings 2013-03-03 03:33 am (UTC)(link)
Nah.

Somarium let's you bring in the character fresh and you don't have to have "memories" of your time there before. Just be prepared for other characters to maybe recognize your character and Toph can just be like "uh...who are you?"

Did that makes sense? It happens a lot, don't worry bout it 8D
dustonmyfeet: (really.)

[personal profile] dustonmyfeet 2013-03-03 03:42 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, you're good. :) That's how it is for most games I've been in. You just . . . never know.

There will be Toph fussing because hey, people from another era, people who know her who she doesn't know back, her own castmates from not the same time . . .

There will be this icon face. And then somewhere I have a shouting face.

Someone will deserve a boulder to the head, but she won't be sure who.
