While neither of my games have castmates, I just want to say I am super, super happy to see anyone from Bully, let alone Gary Smith aaaaaaa.

I can offer you up two of my games, which fit your preferences - smashacademy is a video game canon only game that is somewhat slice-of-life, but runs a lot on player plots and can range from very serious to somewhat silly, depending on what you want (you can opt out of stuff, too). It's a school setting, which is kind of a backdrop, but I think Gary would work really well there.

My other game is ataraxion - a horror game that takes place on a large space vessel. It's panfandom and OC friendly, but is much more serious and has more horror events. I would love to see Gary there too, especially since there are a few sociopaths in that game that he might get along with?

Both games are slow-to-medium pace (AX is about medium, Smash is slightly slower) and they fit the rest of your preferences.

Even if you don't join either, I'm just happy to see a Bully character around! So good luck game-searching!

Aw man, thank you so much for the really friendly message! It's fantastic to get back into an old canon and bring it back to life a little. I recently replayed the game after not having played it since it came out and it suddenly hit me why do people not play these amazing characters?

oh god it's a gary. first of all, it's so great to see somebody playing him. i think over the years i've only seen one other one EVER so the fact that you're out and about, looking for a game for him is AMAZING!

if you don't mind horror settings, might i suggest exitvoid? the game is currently in beta phase, which takes place on a haunted ghost ship. every few months there are docking events that draw settings and inspiration from other canon worlds (for example, our current docking event takes place in bioshock's rapture). sometime this summer we'll be transitioning to gamma phase, which will change up the game's overall setting and mood, going from survival ghost ship to 1920s lovecraftian horror. the game itself is pretty large and can get pretty fast paced sometimes during events but the mods make sure to try to pace things out to allow the characters (and their players) time to recoop from their various traumas.

exitvoid works on a 2:1 real-time/game-time day ratio and as a game is extremely backtag friendly. in order to help keep timelines clear, every in-game week has a plotting post like the rapture one linked above, which allows characters to plot and find new cr.

if you want to take a look at the kind of character spread the game has, you can check out our taken page here. there's a broad mix and i think there is a lot of potential for really interesting cr for gary if you decide to bring him along! any questions, feel free to ask and good luck finding him a game!

Also ha! Yes, I recently replayed the game after not having played it since it came out and wow, reawakening muse ahoy. He's a great character and all of the characters in the game are really well developed and amazing so it's a shame to not see them around much, but yes--thank you so much! I will be sure to poke around exitvoid and have a look.

oh, not a problem — it's my pleasure! i know sometimes it can get pretty overwhelming trying to find a game for a character and sometimes it's hard to get a feel for a place just by combing through profile pages and FAQs. i know the EV mods have a lot of information available and sometmes it can come off as intimidating, but the playerbase is really helpful and always enthusiastic in helping people find their feet!

you should let me know if you ever drop gary somewhere just to get your feet wet. dear_mun or bakerstreet or whatever — i'm sure i can dig somebody up to toss his way!

Hellgate is set in modern-day New York City, but with supernatural creatures from myth and legend world-wide thrown in. It's mostly action-based, but there's plenty of opportunity for slice-of-life or other plot. Very friendly mod-team. Apps and reserves are open, gameplay starts July 1st.
