XD Sweet. I had trouble with Tolkien when I first tried to read it... ten years ago... but I tried LotR again this summer and really enjoyed it. Maybe I should check out the silmarillion! It's kind of always intimidated me before.

There are no canon points in this game! Or well - yes, post-death, but regains can be from at any point in her history. Parts of said history, or powers or scars or whatnot, can just never be regained. It's very convenient for muns who want to retcon some part of canon, lol.

You should TOTALLY try The Silmarillion again. I mean yes I'm biased I obviously love it but seriously, there's so much great stuff in there. Entertain your friends and family members with the story of that one time a spider ate the tree goddess's favorite trees! Shake your book in frustration as every one of your favorite characters spirals down a path to an untimely and bitter end, ultimately brought on by their own choices!

... okay but no it really is good I swear it is sobbing. But, not to be intimidating, iiiiiif you do pick it up (you should) my one tip is it can help if you keep some super simple notes on who is who and where because for like the first solid third I swear every major character's name begins with Fin and most of them are related to each other and then sometimes Tolkien does The Thing where he's like 'hey remember this one character I mentioned briefly 80 pages ago WELL YOU BETTER trollololololo'

So just like Finrod > Finarfin's son (yes these are actual characters in the actual book gosh darn it mr tolkien) IS ACTUALLY P USEFUL IN FIGURING OUT WTF IS GOING ON.

it is different from lotr, i will say that

but it's good i swear

Haha man shucks she'd be easier to play before meeting Beren but man it'd be sad to think of her never remembering him.

Cool, cool. I'm actually familiar with keeping notes on characters! I used to be a Mercedes Lackey fan, and she had a book where she tried to juggle a metric ton of characters... though this also meant I saw how couldn't keep them straight, sob. |D I suspect Tolkien's better with that. Maybe he kept notes of his own!

This is where STE's policy can be helpful! She could go months knowing she's Thingol's (sp?) daughter and an Elf and all that, and only remember the Man she fell in love with later, when you chose to return that.

Tolkien spent like his entire life working on his world, man.

Unfortunately he also died before he completed things, so some things there's like 8 versions of canon and you kind of just choose the one you like best.

And yes! She's also like literally the prettiest thing ever. Like. Canonically. She's the most beautiful person ever in all of creation who ever was or ever would be she's based off of Mrs Tolkien and Mr Tolkien sort of went a little overboard with her as a result. And hm, that could work out then.

aww.

That's really cute. And awww! So she'd be a heartbreaker, huh? :P

If you're interested, there is a Test Drive Meme! You do have to AU your character, but you can choose how much - there are some that are basically themselves but human and not used to danger, and there are some radically different from canon.

Mr and Mrs Tolkien are buried next to each other and they have 'Beren' and 'Luthien' on their tombstones it is all unbearably cute. Tolkien wrote this huge epic love story with like the most amazing woman falling in love with this normal guy and it's adorable.

And yes. I'm not sure if it would translate 100% but yes.

I might check it out!

hee. I see, I see. I guess next time I see the book at the library I'll give it a shot!

Great! Let me know if you have more questions or decide to hit the test drive! You could have her tagged by every active/prospective Tolkien muse and one Sindarin-speaking pigeon boy. ^_^
