Have you thought of checking out dramadramaduck? It seems to fit all of these preferences. The only thing a bit off is that you do have the option to use your journal but it's not at all required.

It also gives you the option of staying on your home world and moving through canon. If can go the way it always has or things you do on the community can change it. There's always ways to go to other worlds, too.
