I'd suggest the_campus myself. While it's technically a dressing room (no apps, no AC), it's one that tends to be run very hands-on by the mods with some restrictions in characters to make sure that none of the really bad ones get in. The mods themselves are also amazingly friendly, most of the characters currently in-game tend to be interesting, and pretty much all the players are chill too.

On top of that, the game has monthly events to keep things from getting too stale, and the mods occasionally drop hints about the backstory (or add new things). It might not be your thing if you need a game that offers a whole bunch for you to do without making it yourself, but I'd suggest trying it anyway if it interests you even a little!

The only problem there might be is that it does tend to move very slowly, and can come to a stop for a few days if people aren't feeling in a posting mood (or already have too many of their posts on the first page). But that makes it so that backtagging is not only friendly, but pretty much common.


To address the specific "canonmate" thing... I myself am a slow tagger (mostly for life/sickness reasons), but I wouldn't mind dropping Rock here into in too if you felt like joining. I'll have to dig up the comics again to get a refresher, though!

I don't really do dressing rooms much anymore since they tend to die off these days, but I will consider it.
