lastvoyages is all about heroes and villains rubbing off on each other. It's set in a space afterlife (canon death optional) where hero characters make a deal with a supernatural being to redeem individual villains. It's journal based, but it fits your other preferences and has scope for everything you've said you want to play, from a wide variety of CR and shipping to villains getting to pull off elaborate plans and eventually facing the consequences. Also, most of the cast list is from little known canons or far back into the EUs of major canons.
