For your consideration: The Warehouse, a panfandom RP set in the Warehouse 13/Eureka universe (you don't have to be familiar with either show to join). We're a small and slow but extremely friendly group; there's no power or memory loss and technically no forced humanization, any of that bunch would just be given a hologram projector for use when interacting with the townies (because WHAT THE FUCK GIANT PIGEON). We do accept previous game history as long as the previous game's setting wasn't an AU, aaaaaaaaaaaaaand we do have some Star Wars cast already!

And RPing with you again would be awesome. Hi, I briefly played Rebecca at StE, I REMEMBER YUUYA.

If this catches your fancy, our test drive is open!

Hiii~

Huh. Cool! What about characters who are dead/ghosts in canon? And nonhuman characters can take off their projectors when not around the normals, right?
very_elaborate: (persona)

[personal profile] very_elaborate 2014-08-31 04:34 am (UTC)(link)
Characters who are dead in canon are perfectly fine (we have Ianto bopping around right now); as for ghosts, handwave handwave the Artifact responsible for their arrival makes them not-a-ghost. Artifacts mean never having to say you're sorry. XD

And yes, it's up to the player whether the character uses the projector when not around the normals. They're only required when the character's in town interacting with people who don't know what's going on.

Heh. Cool, cool. And the purple sludge takes care of general disease...

Can tech-savvy characters alter what's projected?
very_elaborate: (get bent)

[personal profile] very_elaborate 2014-08-31 05:05 am (UTC)(link)
That it does!

hmmmmm. At the very least they'd be able to have that done for them. Not sure about the character doing it themselves, though (AKA I'd need to call for a modly powwow on the subject). But ask the right person nicely and Things Can Be Arranged, in all likelihood.

Aww. I used to play Wedge, Winter, and Luke. Plourr's my latest attempt, mostly because I went back through the comics and realized she's amazing. Those comics themselves are, really.

Who've you tried?
kamiizumi: (Default)

[personal profile] kamiizumi 2014-08-31 04:19 am (UTC)(link)
Janson a couple times, though I think the timing wasn't great either and it wasn't just "am I even playing the right person." I've thought about trying Wedge but never gotten around to it, and a handful of various Rogues and Wraiths from the X-Wing novels but then I'm like "wait, how do PBs work" and I never get beyond the "wouldn't it be great if" stage!

We can offer you a Luke at [community profile] tushanshu! No power loss or mem loss, metaplot is a mix of fantasy and light sci-fi elements, not really horror setting though (there are some darker events, but I wouldn't call them straight horror). We don't accept previous game histories though, sorry.

Our game ad is HERE and a new Test Drive Meme has gone up HERE.

[personal profile] ironwood 2014-08-31 04:16 am (UTC)(link)
We have gone through a bit of an overhaul, definitely! :) New modteam and metaplot.

The main setting takes place in Keeliai which is a large city, but with the new plot elements, characters are going to be interacting with countries and peoples across 8 continents, most of which are currently unexplored. Civilizations are going to range from straight fantasy to high science with a variety of receptions when they arrive (some are friendly, some definitely aren't) plus there will be a lot of upheaval in the city itself after the current plot arc is done, which is set to end in October.
pterosaur: (⬲That is not the worst)

[personal profile] pterosaur 2014-08-31 04:30 am (UTC)(link)
I see!

I have characters like a spy and an empress who would try and busybody into everything, and ones like my pterosaur who would just as rather fly away and let this be someone else's problem. Is there anything that would compel extreme loners to stick around, and are there opportunities to meddle?
ironwood: (Default)

[personal profile] ironwood 2014-08-31 04:37 am (UTC)(link)
Your spy and empress are definitely going to appreciate the metaplot that's gearing up in the next 2 months. The spy can definitely put their talents to use in the less than friendly places they visit, particularly on landfalls where the aim is to acquire knowledge, tech or allies. There's also going to be a power shift within Keeliai itself and we're hoping to have PC characters actually step up and take on positions of power within the city, so like... councilors and such to help guide how the city rebuilds itself so that would probably suit the empress char best.

As for the pterosaur, you could always make them a baby turtle parent! What better incentive to stay than a needy bus-sized hatchling to love and teach? (We had full-sized dragon characters be turtle parents before, and I can affirm it's hilarious.)

Shilling Last Resort! It's a scifi, open world game, and previous game history is accepted.

(Also, I do pom-pom cheers at Expanded Universe characters because I play from Doctor Who Expanded Universe (audio plays) so I'm all "Expanded Universe Canon! Rah-rah-rah!")

I have friends there! Cool. I heard about summer plots being a thing and the game becomes slice-of-life the rest of the year?

Aww. XD
timesbureaucrat: (Default)

[personal profile] timesbureaucrat 2014-09-02 02:42 am (UTC)(link)
Not so much slice-of-life, more like plots the rest of the year aren't part of the greater arc and don't change the setting and are more ad hoc. Like the summer plots are all part of one ongoing story about the world the game takes place on, whereas non-summer plots are just episodic or events and don't reveal anything new about the world. (The idea being that many RPers are more free in the summer than the rest of the year, so the plots the rest of the year are things where a person could hiatus for a month and not miss major reveals an easily slip back into the game after hiatus was over.) Actually a couple of us are hoping to get a little plot going this fall involving the criminal organizations.

[personal profile] freeasabook 2014-09-02 03:16 am (UTC)(link)
Huh! Cool, that makes sense.

hmm. How much history does a previous game need to have had? Enough to leave a solid impression on the character?

I'm considering Nageki here. He's a ghost, but when he was in Demelier he got to treat that like an afterlife and be solid/visible, without actually being alive and seriously ill.

Hatofuls! I'm not canon-familiar with the others, but they all sound like fun. Have you considered [community profile] wethelost? It's a CRAU game based around raising a young god and developing the world the characters have found themselves in. It's mostly Slice of Life, but there's an overarching plot related to raising the young god, and events run the gamut from silly to horror. No powerloss (excepting godlike, insta-kill powers), no memory loss, and while there's no forced humanization, there is the possibility for characters to experience it by wishing for a body modification to a new species.

I've heard of that one! And I have some friends over there. How big is that world, anyway? Last time I looked the game over it seemed pretty small.
subtleserenity: (honestly amused)

[personal profile] subtleserenity 2014-09-02 04:12 am (UTC)(link)
The world itself is physically small. It's about 1 square mile. But the points of interest within the setting have expanded since the game started and people now have the ability to wish for things like buildings. Character-wise, we've got a little over 30.

Plourr wants to deal with Wes more, right? [community profile] outer_divide is a small, slow paced, friendly game. THere's a lot of room for players to really impact the direction of the game and a whole planet to explore. Wes is even working with a team trying to get back up into space. Previous game history is allowed as well. Our Star Wars cast is Luke, Wes, Padme, Jacen and Tenel Ka. So bring me more EU!

Also. Dinosaurs.

Aww. Cool, cool. I think I want to solidify her as a muse more before I try canonmates. She's more confrontational than my other characters and I'm still trying to figure her out.

Glad you know her, though! The comics are more obscure than the books.
