Oldie fan here. Blame Yu Yu Hakusho for me getting into Togashi's works. I haven't seen the remake yet though. Still versed with the original.

I really should read or watch YYH... the friend that got me into HxH likes it, too. I have the first manga volume & have seen random dub eps of the anime, but that's as far as I've gotten.

I don't know how the '99 HxH anime was, but I will say the remake is good. If nothing else, yay HD pretty animation? haha.
