If you're interested would you like to have a look at empyreanskies? We have a Tifa on reserve, and the game does have an overarching plot (A major one is coming on the way at the end of March!) and there are also events, jobs, and missions that pop up every month.

The full premise is here but basically...the game takes place ten years after a very long and bloody war between two countries over control over the Alkite crystals (which are crystals used at the time for magical powers and such).The war lasted roughly 70 years and both sides agreed to a ceasefire only recently (10 yrs before the beginning of the game) And then the anomalies began appearing, bringing in Outsiders (I.e. the players) and creating strange magical storms or mutating existing creatures in the world.

Currently one mission is to search out for ancient artifacts that might have the power to send players back home. The secondary mission is to explore and map out the world, since no one was able to do so what with the focus being on the war until both sides ran out of funding/supplies and had to agree to a ceasefire.

I'd love to see an Ed at eachdraidh, which has a lot of plot and events - but apps don't open again until May. In terms of other games with frequent plot, cerealia's reserves are slotted to open sometime today and there's an app round for March, so that may be worth looking into - it's more sci fi than Eachdraidh's fantasy, which may actually be better for him in the long run anyway? :|a

I've actually been heavily considering Each for Ed, but sob, yeah, May is quite a ways away. I haven't looked into cerealia but love scifi, so that's a plus C: What's the premise of the game?

Haha yeah that's why I was like "Well I think he could work here, however..." but I thought it was worth mentioning anyway.

Anyway! The premise is listed as "CEREALIA is an adult-themed pan-fandom plot-heavy game in a sci-fi/digital fantasy setting. An alien race has managed to pass through the barriers between universes and is out to consume them all until nothing is left. Characters are digitally manifested into a world where they can make the difference that will turn things back to before the calamity happened and prevent its genesis. But, time is short; you need to help erase them before they erase you."

Basically, characters are pulled from their canons and told their code was "recovered" (there's a very, very digital/high tech theme going on) when their world was destroyed, and they're there trying to recover the data for their universes/save the multiverse etc. I'm actually apping this round, but I've been watching from the get-go and it's fairly lively and the events range in tone from silly to plotty!

If you don't mind AUs, we'd love to suggest xavier_institute! It has a definite overarching plot. Based on the X-Men, characters are AUd into the setting as mutants and have to deal with the struggles that go along with that, living in a world that still largely hates and/or fears them.

Maybe consider thewake? I'd love to see Lightning there because Lightning. It's based on CR but it has a backstory and biiit of an overarching plot but you might want to see if it's enough for you to do that.

It would be great to have Cloud or Vincent at consignment. It's fast-paced but a lot of backtagging happens and events are definitely involved. Right now we have Cissnei and Zack in terms of cast and would love to see it grow - Cloud especially would be interesting to have around but either would be great..

The only thing is this app round is going to be a bit of a tight one; apps are only open for one day (13th March) and only 30 characters will be accepted this round. But if you're interested in seeing what it's like, the test drive is currently active here (with all threads being game canon for those currently in game, as something else to keep in mind).

Thanks for letting me know about the caveats, I appreciate it! I looked into CDC a little when it first opened last year but it quickly got way too big for me, haha. I can do big games if backtagging is a thing, though.

THAT IS QUITE A TEST DRIVE THOUGH wow. Let me slowly wrap my brain around it. I'm interested in CDC it's just intimidating HAHA
