EDIT: okay I thought twice and actually should probably mention, because it's actually relevant to your ad, but I'm currently playing in Tu Shanshu and while I don't know how the khert would be handled, exactly, I think the mods would be willing to work with you and I know there's some game mechanics that could help keep Duane playable (for starters, off the top of my head, every PC aready has a required jewelry item that basically keeps their soul anchored to their body)

It's also slow and pretty player-driven in terms of plot so far, as I've experienced.
