I think thelegion hits a lot of your preferences, and I'd really love to see some more Star Wars (or anyone, but I know my biases, sob) there!

It's a panfandom sci fi, superhero RP where characters are drawn into the world of the Legion of Superheroes, a year after most of the the Legion disappeared. They have to take on the role of Legionnaires to fight against cosmic threats, government corruption, and supervillains, so the people working on a way to get them home are free to do it. The game is meant to last only 1-2 years before it hits endgame, something like a tabletop RP.

- has a mix of player plot and overarching mod plot
- minimal power-nerfing and no power loss (powerless characters get powers)
- slow to medium pace

You don't need to know DC comics/LoSH to get by, and I've found the NPCs pretty fun so far. Characters have the ability to go check out planets all over the game world at their own discretion, and players can plan missions and plots going there if they want. It's a tiny game at the moment, but the mix of mediums is very diverse so far and everyone's been pretty cool about playing with everyone.

So far as castmates, we...halfway have a few for you; the Marvel we've got so far is comics and the Star Wars we've got so far is from the old retconned EU rather than TFA. (As the one SW player so far, though, my guy is a C-lister from far back enough in canon that I don't know if he and Rey would even realize on their own that their continuity isn't the same.)
