It drops the parchment and vial with little warning on your head. Before it can be caught, before any questions can be asked, the bat is gone in a puff of black curling smoke. The parchment, which had been tied in a simple black ribbon, has somehow unfurled and scrawled inside in neat but strange writing is a message you oddly can read despite clearly not being in your native language:

"My dear friends!

If you are getting this letter, then Dr. Finklestein's experiment was a success! I am Jack Skellington, the Pumpkin King and Master of Fright, leader of Halloween Town. After having discussed it with the other leaders of the other Holidays, we would like to invite you and the others receiving this letter to experience our holidays like never before!
There is so much the others and I wish to show you! So many amazing wonders of our holidays that you won't believe your eyes! It shall be so much fun! I will assure you safe passage from and eventually back to your home. For those of you who are dying, rest in peace knowing we have the ability to bring you here good as new or just as dead as you like! We have all sorts in Halloween Town, after all.

You and your fellow arrivals have been chosen to create your own civilization on the Island of Paradiso by the Powers That Be, the gods and goddesses of this land and sea who are saddened by having witnessed the end of humankind as they know it. You might feel just the slightest bit dizzy and fuzzy from the trip, which you either knew was coming (without knowing exactly when), because you volunteered for the project or because your memories have been altered in such a fashion that you believe you've volunteered. Either way, when you wake up, you inherently know exactly where you are and what your purpose is. You've been tasked with helping to create a new world, responsible for aiding in building the community all the way up to repopulating the planet. You'll arrive with the clothes on your back and whatever you happen to have on your person at the time; the first arrivals will also have a few helpful tools to start, but on the whole, your job on the island is to build your society from the ground up and you inherently already know that upon waking. Don't try calling out to friends and family — why would you? You've volunteered, so of course you've already let them know you'll be unavailable for the foreseeable future — because you're on a whole new planet. New York City was saved from certain destruction, twice, when Ghostbusters Spengler, Venkman, Stedmore, and Stantz blew up a giant mascot made of marshmallow. They did it again a few years later, animating the Statue of Liberty to stop a great evil from being reborn in an art museum.

Present Day

Regarded as public heroes, the Ghostbusters have officially retired from their line of work, but their legacy lives on, and profitably so, by establishing a series of national and international franchise agencies. Fledgling Ghostbusters have assembled teams of their own in different cities and locales to fight supernatural threats on their own turf, and for their own reasons. By now, most of the world has acknowledged these ghost exterminators as legitimate businesses and not just a collection of successful scam artists, but there are still some locations that may choose to remain skeptical. Ghosts still run rampant, as do demons, demigods, monsters, and many other things that go bump in the night.

Game Premise

Ghostbustin' is an AU game, with characters placed in the modern age to carry on the legacy of the Ghostbusters who came before them. Characters can form their own teams, fight ghosts solo, or just be ordinary citizens minding their own business when some stupid ghost comes along and ruins their day. This game is meant to fit a variety of tagging speeds by allowing players to choose the team best suited to their needs, and encourages story creation, proactive players, and cooperation to experience Ghostbusting in an RP format.

Welcome to New Dodge. It's a small settlement at the edge of explored space, comprised of people who were both recruited for study or arriving by accident. There are even some inhabitants who have come from other worlds in our universe. All for the chance to populate a new world, to learn new things or to escape their past lives.

Whatever has happened to you, all of that is in the past. If you are a criminal, no one needs to know. We have technology to make you well, to replace lost limbs, to restore sight, to invigorate and extend your life. You will be provided with employment and shelter. We can give you a fresh start. People of the living world fear the dark and hide themselves.
People of the land of the dead slip into the darkness and dominate it.
People in the past said that one could meet apparitions at that time…
the time of disasters…'

There is more to this world than what we humans can see. We have glaring blind spots where creatures of the Far Shore lurk. Often, they are content to let us live our lives peacefully, but there are dark beings among them - the ayakashi. All bad things that happen in the world can be attributed to the taint of the ayakashi and though the gods fight to vanquish these negative spirits, there are too many for any real progress to be made.

The gods themselves inhabit the Far Shore as well and stay away from the Near Shore - the world of humans - as much as they can. However, they hear every wish and they are dedicated to their followers, doing whatever they can to fulfill the prayers that are brought to them with the help of their divine weapons, the shinki. Shinki are departed souls turned to tools by the gods themselves, made to serve. While they are similar to the ayakashi, shinki have been given human names, so that they may live like humans, though not quite as humans.

Many of the gods continue to live simply because there are humans that believe in and pray to them. They are, in every sense, immortal. Their physical bodies can be killed with great effort, but they will simply reincarnate after their death. Sometimes, the Heavens use this to their advantage, killing off one incarnation of a god in order to birth a new generation that will be more willing to do what the leaders of the Heavens want them to do. No one can ever quite grasp what it is that the Heavens are looking to accomplish, but the general consensus is that they want to keep the peace between the Near and Far Shores.

Lately, though, the Heavens have taken their meddling up a notch. Not only are they executing gods from all over the world, they are reincarnating those gods using the souls of sentient beings from every possible universe in existence, causing those beings to be ripped from their homes and forcing them to become gods and confining them to only being able to enter a small portion of the Near Shore - specifically Japan. Not only that, but in their attempts to bring over 'new' gods, they have dragged too many souls into their world. These excess souls are being quickly named and turned into shinki which are then gifted and bound to the new gods.

The Far Shore is a panfandom jamjar game based on the world of Noragami where your character can either be a god or a shinki (the weapon of a god). Memory-loss and power nerfing are both optional.

Two gods, opposed in all things, struggling for power. One threw open a door, allowing the entrance of evil and chaos - and you. Because power comes from emotion, and you are the thing that can provide that emotion. Your fear and your hope can strengthen the gods, but though they may see you as not much more than ambulatory batteries, that doesn't mean you're powerless. Welcome to the city of Hadriel, where fear and hope battle to manipulate you. Enjoy your stay, and do your best to avoid dying. It makes such a mess.

hadriel is a medium paced horror/choose-your-own-outcome game with an overarching plot arc that characters can alter and effect. The majority of the events are jamjar-esque, which are put on by the various gods designed to make your character feel specific emotions. These emotions give the gods power to further expand the city and establish themselves against the other gods, which then will result in plot events occurring. Look out, though- not everything is quite black and white here, and it's unwise to make such heavy decisions without knowing the full story.

Initially, the two gods in the city are Fear and Hope, each of whom have different types of events to pull fear and hope from your characters. While Fear uses the power he gains to oppose Hope and continue to terrorize the player characters, Hope is attempting to gain power to revive the dead gods. The first and second revivals have already occurred, the goddess Rage who has taken no side in their conflict so far and the goddess Delight who is Hope's ally. As the game progresses, Hope will give the player characters the ability to choose between which gods will be revived; these gods will later initiate events of their own, make alliances, have feuds, and reveal more about the setting and what caused them to die in the first place.

You were living amidst the decay all along — you just never realized it until now. But how could you have missed something so obvious?

Because you didn't believe it was real.

Carvaka is a sex game with a survival/adventure style and an ongoing metaplot. Characters are not transported to the setting, but wake up to familiar surroundings. Familiar, but decaying and ruined, as if no one has been around them in years. This is the true state of their home, and accepting or not, they're the only ones who can fix things.

The Fleet

Welcome to the Omwi Fleet.
The Owmi, a spacefaring, nomadic civilization, have been traveling the stars for over a thousand years. That whole time, they have been searching for the remnants of their lost people, the Ibere. When their ancient society fractured long ago, the Owmi received a prophecy that said they would "find them". So far, the Owmi have been unsuccessful; but under the divine direction of their Orakalla, they press on searching the vast expanses between the stars. For belief is a powerful motivator.

However one day the unexpected happened. Stopping to refuel and gather supplies in a non-discript and uninhabited solar system, the Orakalla flared to life and declared, "They are coming," and then fell silent once again.

This caused quite the stir among the Owmi, for this surely meant they would at last be reunited with their lost people.

But, that is not what happened.

Strange people started to appear at the base of the Orakalla, strange people who were not Owmi or Ibere. Strange people who were not from this universe.

The Fleet is a pan-fandom game open to Canon, OC, and Canon AU characters (including CRAU) from all fandoms. It takes place in space where the setting is mostly a fleet of ships (a mix of military and civilian ships) periodically stopping at new locations. It will incorporate jam-jar and slice-of-life elements, with a non-mandatory metaplot that will involve mystery, intrigue, and maybe even space battles. The game will also involve mod-driven plots and player-driven plots. Characters are open to explore various power-gaining options. We are smut-friendly, but not smut-centric. The game environment is conducive to non-human characters and kid characters.

THERE ARE NO LOST CAUSES WHEN IT COMES TO LOST SOULS

lastvoyages is highly focused on character development and interactions. It's set on a physics-defying barge in unknown space, where everyone on board is either an inmate or a warden. Wardens are there to redeem inmates in exchange for absolutely anything! The Admiral fulfills their deal once they graduate an inmate. Deals can range from something as simple as wealth and riches to something as selfish (and/or noble) as the return of a deceased loved one. Inmates have died or are near death (canonically or under an invented circumstance), and are in need of a second chance: they get that opportunity on the Barge. The game is of a medium size and pace, comm based with an easy AC, with several small game wide events a month. It's a CR intensive game, often focusing on the serious side of redeeming morally corrupt or gray characters - but with cracky storylines and events worked in to lighten things up. Forest Covered is a panfandom slice of life RPG taking a loose base from world mythologies, folklores, and the body of work of Studio Ghibli; particularly Spirited Away.

Existing on another plane of reality are many hundreds of cities catering to the unseen world of spirits. These cities are vast and strange, in many ways familiar, but inhabited mostly by creatures from folklore and myth. Most of them do not actually live in the cities for long, instead passing through them on their way to new places in the human world to call home, or just visiting for a vacation. In fact, the cities are quickly evolving into massive tourist spots, and spirits are just eating it up! Sometimes literally.

Of course, the problem with rapid expansion is the need for more labour. Lesser spirits are numerous, but projecting the image of an exotic getaway calls for something new. That's where you come in.

You aren't the first and you won't be the last taken from outside the spirit realm and put to work here, in the growing city of Koriko. Don't worry, though; the witch that runs the island picked you because you have a debt to pay. Just by working here, she'll absolve your debt and grant you a little favour in return. Just sign your name away and you'll be put to work serving the vacationing spirits.

Oh, you want to know how long it will take to pay off your debt? Well, that's up to you isn't it? You read the fine print...

'Dusk is the border between evening and night time.
People of the living world fear the dark and hide themselves.
People of the land of the dead slip into the darkness and dominate it.
People in the past said that one could meet apparitions at that time…
the time of disasters…'

There is more to this world than what we humans can see. We have glaring blind spots where creatures of the Far Shore lurk. Often, they are content to let us live our lives peacefully, but there are dark beings among them - the ayakashi. All bad things that happen in the world can be attributed to the taint of the ayakashi and though the gods fight to vanquish these negative spirits, there are too many for any real progress to be made.

The gods themselves inhabit the Far Shore as well and stay away from the Near Shore - the world of humans - as much as they can. However, they hear every wish and they are dedicated to their followers, doing whatever they can to fulfill the prayers that are brought to them with the help of their divine weapons, the shinki. Shinki are departed souls turned to tools by the gods themselves, made to serve. While they are similar to the ayakashi, shinki have been given human names, so that they may live like humans, though not quite as humans.

Many of the gods continue to live simply because there are humans that believe in and pray to them. They are, in every sense, immortal. Their physical bodies can be killed with great effort, but they will simply reincarnate after their death. Sometimes, the Heavens use this to their advantage, killing off one incarnation of a god in order to birth a new generation that will be more willing to do what the leaders of the Heavens want them to do. No one can ever quite grasp what it is that the Heavens are looking to accomplish, but the general consensus is that they want to keep the peace between the Near and Far Shores.

Lately, though, the Heavens have taken their meddling up a notch. Not only are they executing gods from all over the world, they are reincarnating those gods using the souls of sentient beings from every possible universe in existence, causing those beings to be ripped from their homes and forcing them to become gods and confining them to only being able to enter a small portion of the Near Shore - specifically Japan. Not only that, but in their attempts to bring over 'new' gods, they have dragged too many souls into their world. These excess souls are being quickly named and turned into shinki which are then gifted and bound to the new gods.

The Far Shore is a panfandom jamjar game based on the world of Noragami where your character can either be a god or a shinki (the weapon of a god). Memory-loss and power nerfing are both optional.

milliways_bar is a medium-fast paced, community-based, prose-based panfandom jamjar game, set within the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy Universe. Characters are allowed to move freely from their world to the titular Bar At The End Of The Universe through doors - which on their side of the door might be anything from a porthole to a hole in the ground, and from there can either willingly move back and forth between worlds, stay upstairs at the Bar's inn or be "Bound" or trapped at Milliways without an escape hatch back for any length of time.

Fade Rift is a panfandom game set in Thedas, the world of the Dragon Age series. It begins just a few weeks after a major battle at Haven sealed the demon-spewing Breach in the sky, but left the Inquisition's base destroyed and leader dead. With the nascent peacekeeping order scrambling to find their footing, the world around them continues to tumble into conflict. The game will feature wide-ranging fantasy adventure, intrigue, and politics, and will allow characters from throughout the series as well as newcomers of all stripes to join the effort to find a new order in a rapidly-changing world.

Fade Rift allows Dragon Age characters, native OCs, AU'd native panfandom characters, and OCs or OU panfandom characters who arrive in Thedas through tears in the Veil. Reserves open at 12:00 EST on May 25. Applications open at 12:00 EST on June 1 and close at 11:59 EST on June 5.

Don’t you wonder who would win in a battle of the movieverse Avengers against the movieverse X-Men? Do you wonder what role Agents of SHIELD would have in a world where mutants exist? Do you wish you could have two Spider-Men swinging across New York City instead of only Peter Parker?

With X-PROJECT, now you can! Before Marvel’s own reality-smooshing event of the Secret Wars, X-Project underwent a relaunch, which expanded the pool of usable concepts to all of the Marvel properties, regardless of who holds the licence. Using the X-Men franchise as a base, we are now pulling in elements from the MCU, Spider-Verse and other properties.

Established in May 2003, X-Project is a journal-based RPG on Livejournal. We use a combination of in-character journals and email/IM logs. There's a number of settings for a range of play, whatever your preference, and the slate has been wiped clean on all of our available and retired characters.
