It takes a few seconds for everything to register. Your memories and your vision are hazy. You remember the faint whisper of voices, the glaring white pristine tiles of a lab and the cold press of metal against your back. Your eyes flutter; they drift back and forth between sleep and consciousness but you find focusing on anything is difficult. The sedative they've pumped in you makes you far too calm. The next time you wake up, you are in a different space. It's an enclosed metallic chamber that lifts itself up. You feel something is very different. You notice that there are a series of ports decorating your spine. You survey the area and find that the room is unfamiliar, empty save for a table. Placed on the table, is a monitor and a few of your possessions. As you make your way towards it, the monitor flickers on and it plays a message:

"Listen to me for a sec, you guys are the only hope we've got left."

THE SANCTUM is a pan-fandom dark sci-fi game with horror elements set in a post-apocalyptic dystopian future. Canon Characters, AUs, CRAUs, OCs, In-Game AUs, and Fan Characters are all accepted. This game has a strong focus on characters, featuring a prominent over-arching, player-driven plot. The setting is the domed city of the Sanctum, which is relatively empty, featuring plot elements such as zombies, genetic experiments, corporate overlords, and cybernetic enhancements.

A stranger asks you a question and it made sense at the time so you answer with yes. The next thing you know, you're on a ship called the Neheda, and a vocoder-like voice is warning you about the toxicity levels of the air.

Wait, back up.

Here's what happened: you have been consigned to the Cosmic Demolition Crew to work for the Neheda Crew, and depending on the disclosure level they've assigned you, you're a bit stuck on the crew. You are now a CDC recruit, and your mission (which you may or may not have accepted knowingly) is to help them in their job: destroying worlds. The CDC (disease-related references unintended) once stood for Cosmic Development Contractors; they've obviously shed the last two words since they changed management a few... er, very long time ago. No one's really sure. The important part is you're now on payroll, and until your contract is fulfilled, you're not going anywhere.

It sounds worse than it really is. Your status of employment to the CDC guarantees the safety of your home world from the wrecking ball of the CDC — you're actually kind of a hero. The CDC will also guarantee you one material object of your choice — or a person of choice. They'll pay you what you want, as long as you deliver. And you have to deliver, or so help you, they'll take your paycheck out of your home planet. So buckle up and hang on, or whatever the phrases are where you're from.

You've got some planetary destruction ahead of you.

If you've ever wanted to play a monster, RYSLIG might just be for you! The premise is precisely what it sounds like: a sinister force has kidnapped your character and slowly transforms them, both physically and mentally, into a monster. Ooh, spooky. There are also gods and wars and all sorts of crazy stuff. It's fun!

Onto the nitty-gritty stuff. Ryslig is a medium-to-large game, but I've found it pretty well-paced, considering my own tight schedule. There's tons of opportunity for cross-canon interaction and some exploring too. There's also an overarching plot, but it moves quite slowly. Although the mods are hinting at things happening in June.

THERE ARE NO LOST CAUSES WHEN IT COMES TO LOST SOULS

lastvoyages is highly focused on character development and interactions. It's set on a physics-defying barge in unknown space, where everyone on board is either an inmate or a warden. Wardens are there to redeem inmates in exchange for absolutely anything! The Admiral fulfills their deal once they graduate an inmate. Deals can range from something as simple as wealth and riches to something as selfish (and/or noble) as the return of a deceased loved one. Inmates have died or are near death (canonically or under an invented circumstance), and are in need of a second chance: they get that opportunity on the Barge. The game is of a medium size and pace, journal based with an easy AC, with several small game wide events a month. It's a CR intensive game, often focusing on the serious side of redeeming morally corrupt or gray characters - but with cracky storylines and events worked in to lighten things up. Applications are always open! If anyone has questions or concerns about apping a character, we do have a potential apps page, where members can chime in and give input on any character you're thinking of apping. That's right, no matter what sort of life you had before you got here, brace yourself - you're now a passenger on the starship Enterprise. Will you try to join Starfleet? Will you try to start your own trading outpost? Or will you just hang around the lounge and grouse?

ten_fwd is a community-based jamjar with a twist game that takes place within the Star Trek: The Next Generation universe. There is an overarching plot that characters are invited to contribute toward: they have been ported to the Enterprise by Q, who has marooned your character in the far future with the TNG crew; however, you are also invited to make your own mischief, and most if not all game plots will be optional.

While the ultimate goal is at first to rein in Q, there's going to be plenty of room for slice-of-life shenanigans and missions to distant planets, with organized quarterly events. ten_fwd is backtagging friendly and runs at a medium-slow pace.
