Would a mix of SoL and JRPG Fantasy interest you and your Lu Xun muse? I play this old man here at empatheias, and the game meets most of your preferences. I'd say our speed varies from slow to moderate, and leans more on the latter when there are events happening in the game.

Although there can be SoL lulls in-between game events there are player plots and NPC taskboard submissions (some of which feature giant monsters to take down) to tide the more action-orientated characters over these periods. And the mods are very flexible when it comes to player-run events as well. For example, the characters (known as the Otherworlders to the natives of Empatheias) successfully petitioned the Council to create a sub-division of the local patrol force, consisting of and led by the Otherworlders themselves to respond to any safety concerns and threats created by errant Otherworlders.

The game's plot can develop based on character decisions and actions, but follows an overarching story planned out by the mods. Empatheias takes place on a floating island where emotions have an impact on people's surroundings. A few months after the first batch of 'Otherworlders' (as the characters are known as by the locals) mysteriously appeared at some ruins, powerful beings known as the Arehtei have begun to emerge and have left cryptic hints that the world is dying and that the Otherworlders may be able to help save it.

We're really really back-tag friendly and AC isn't strenuous at all (10 comments split between multiple threads, or 1 post and 7 comments in other posts). Do let me know if you've got any other questions on the game and I'll be glad to answer!

Have you considered thegames? It's a medium-paced game set in the Hunger Games universe, but you don't need to be familiar with the Hunger Games to play. In a nutshell, a dystopian government has taken people from their universes to play in fancy gladiator games. AC is easy to get, there's a slow-burn rebellion plot to play with that's been picking up recently, and the environment is very welcoming and backtag-friendly.

Y'know, I think tushanshu hits most of your preferences? It's a slow-to-medium pace, AC's 15 comments/month, spread over three threads max, with the option to turn in more for IC rewards. The setting's fantasy with mild horror elements here and there, and there's an overarching plot that's really shaped by the playerbase. It's equally possible to be involved with that or to just kind of keep to the edges and SoL it up, whatever floats your boat and suits your pace. Also, almost all of the people I know will backtag basically forever.

We don't have a power cap, either. Unfortunately we have no castmates for you at the moment, and while we do have a network the text function is a little... less than useful at the moment, though I believe the tech characters are working on it.

And personally, I know I'd love a Zack-- I think he'd get along with a fair number of our cast. c:

buuut i'd desperately love to see a dale cooper at cerealia. i love love love love dale and twin peaks and just. yes. cerealia's very sci-fi with a mix of humor and horror. it has its moments of slice of life but lately the mods have been upping the plot more often.

it definitely has that type of mix of ac options too! i would call it mostly medium paced and you can generally keep up (i personally am kind of slow with tags maybe once every other day or so but i keep up just fine!) our test drive is up here if you want to wet your toes and apps open on the 14th!
