This is like probably the most heart-wrenching game I could offer for someone like Jaime buuut I'm going to be apping Brainiac 5 and would love him to meet Jaime so might you be interested in [community profile] thegames?

The Games is set in the Hunger Games universe, where rebellion stirring in the districts has led to the Capitol pulling in people from various alternate worlds as Tributes rather than pissing people off by killing their kids and now the Hunger Games runs nearly constantly. Every time Tributes die they're brought back to life but as dropped characters perma-die that means the Tributes know they might not survive every time so they have to treat every arena as if it might be their last.

In between arenas, they have to deal with the ridiculousness of the Capitol where they're treated more like characters in a story than people and are constantly exploited by the media. There's also an over-arching plot running that will probably lead to eventual rebellion and while they have to be very slow and steady with it, some characters are trying to quietly rebel against the Capitol, sometimes with the aid of the rebellion mod npcs.

Where things might get interesting for Jaime: 1) he is kind of good at that quietly working to screw over evil overlords thing and playing the long game. Powers? He don't need no stinkin' powers. Past experience has shown he doesn't even need pants. 2) I'm apping Brainy in probably February and Brainy would totes try to quietly work with Jaime to discreetly superhero that business up. 3) I have a friend interested in apping an AU Brenda where everything is the same except she's the one that got the scarab. No guarantees but if she does and if you did, that'd be hella fun. 4) I also have this cavedude here who is a very empathetic brave dude who'd totally get Jaime's compassionate streak and would be a bro. I think they'd get along great. And 5) In general the game is very fun, the players are nice, and it has a neat mix of characters.

The game is:

- on dreamwidth
- slow to medium paced
- hella backtag friendly
- small to medium size
- not a sex game but lots of elements of horror/adventure
- nice mix of character stuff, plot, and over-arching plot

My first instinct was "NO HOW COULD I DO THAT TO JAIME" but I WILL ADMIT. I'm tempted!! I've never actually considered The Games and I'm lukewarm at best to THG canon but man. Jaime and that dang long game. No promises here either but I'll definitely consider!

(also pass on my screams of awe to your friend with the AU Brenda *^*)

I was kinda meh on it myself just because I've had an aversion to HG because it seemed violent and depressing but when I caught onto the vibe of camaraderie the characters have and how much many of them want to stick it to the man, I was like "yep, apping" and it's been a lot of fun so far. It's definitely a dark setting but it's not without its light and people trying to hold on to who they are and fight for each other.

As for the setting, the game resources they have on the setting are really good and they really don't expect players to come in familiar with it. I went in totally canon-blind and it was enough for me to hit the ground running. The mods and other players have been great at answering my questions about what I didn't know. It actually made me want to go at least see the movies when I had no interest before.

And I'll let my friend know! She plays a mad awesome Brenda. I used to play BB to her Brenda and a great Paco back in the day. She's like an inch away from apping as is so maybe I can mutually tempt you both at the same time. XD
