If you're open to AUs I know I for one would love to have you at [community profile] capitalh – I don't know anything about your canon but I sure as heck want to look it up going off this description of Janine, because that sounds amazing. Capital H is a mostly superhero based game – it's an AU, but because the setting is based in a genre that's traditionally home to things like space aliens, time travel, magic and alternate dimensions it has room to accommodate a lot in terms of character backstories/powers, up to and including teens who have been turned into enormous prehistoric reptiles, and you could almost definitely work something out for her if you were interested!

Hmm, I've heard of this one! Janine's the slightly tsundere type who'd snark at people and then go to great lengths to help them out of danger, then get rude. Maybe she'd do all right there.

How is it size and pacing wise?

Ooh, I think she could do! Personally I think it would be sort of amazing to have her on the Trailblazers, the AU's government-monitored teen superhero team, but that would probably require ageing her up a couple of years (and also depend on how up for that sort of thing she'd be).

CH is on the small side; there are about 45-50 characters at the moment, and it's growing steadily but not explosively. Everybody is very friendly and enthusiastic though. As for pacing I'd say it's sort of medium paced? I'm a little bad at gauging this sort of thing, I'll admit, but for me personally I find I've generally got plenty to do there without being overwhelmed. Taking a glance at the log comm, which is overall a bit more active than the network comm at the moment, there've been twelve new posts in the last week, and 30 in the last month, if that's anything to go by.

She's not at all a joiner! There are things that would need a lot of tweaking. This is a character who decided her obligations were spent, so she'd fly off and leave the human world behind.

Huh, that's cool. Are there events? Character driven?

Ohh that kind of kid, I see :) WELL whichever way you wanted to swing that there'd definitely be room for a character like her, I think; as far as tweaking goes we would totally be willing to help you work stuff out if needs be!

It's a bit of both; we tend to pull mod run events out once every month or so and sometimes they're related to the ongoing plot arc we've got going and sometimes they're not – at the moment said plot arc is sort of an optional mystery background thing, though, since we're just getting started. There's a lot of character driven stuff; the way the setting operates gives players a lot of free rein because anything they do is as much an intrinsic part of the setting as anything that's mod mandated.
pterosaur: (⅋Many people do.)

|D It's part of the reason she's tricky to place! It can be hard making her want to be around people. If they don't need her she's just inclined to go flying. Might help if she could be, oh, found and have to help someone and brought back, but that could get complicated.

I remember eyeing it when it opened, but deciding I'd wait and see since I know Changed folded. So it's pretty steadily working, huh?

Ohhh hahaha, yeah, it absolutely is, CH is working for us a heck of a lot better than Changed did. Changed was sort of niche and we tried some things that didn't end up working, whereas CH has a much more open setting with way more to do, and people are getting a lot more into it. For me personally it's a setup that's more familiar in terms of knowing what things work and what don't, as well, so it's, you know, way less experimental. (Also I don't know how much you saw of the wank that was getting kicked up by other people when we opened the game, but mercifully that's been totally absent in terms of the game itself; the OOC atmosphere's been really pleasant so far.)

And HM yeah, complicated or no, I'm pretty sure something like that could be wrangled, honestly! I'm pretty sure there'd be people up for getting their characters involved in that kind of thing. Or depending on how you worked her backstory there could always be some kind of government-keeping-an-eye-on-her deal, or something like that.

[personal profile] pterosaur 2014-04-27 03:46 am (UTC)(link)
I'm glad to hear that!

The whole reason she's a pterosaur is because of a time machine that gets people to astral project and possess big animals somewhen else, leaving their bodies in comas for potentially their whole lives. The human era parts of her canon take place in the late nineties/early 2000, too. Something could be done with that, I'm sure.

Man, how the heck have I never heard of this series, I really need to amend this, it sounds right up my street

Something could definitely be done with that – I assume you aren't at all after having her return to her human body considering the "no forced humanisation" bit there, so presumably a separate, less astral-projecty kind of time travel would be required to get her back into the present?

Scott Ciencin wrote these - Janine's part of the story is one volume as "Dinoverse" or edited down into two volumes as "The Teens Time Forgot" and "I Was A Teenaged T. Rex". The first is the better version, and is also an ebook on Amazon. After that there are four more books. I feel like they decline in quality, though they're still fun!

I wouldn't be against some humanization, part-timing it say, but it's as a pterosaur that I think Janine's the most interesting. And yeah, a more convenient method would be cool.

Ohho I may have to seek this out for my kindle. Thank you 8)

And yeah I can definitely understand that! And hm you could work that a variety of ways – well-intentioned but risky & experimental attempt to open a time portal to study prehistoric life; evil scientist summoning prehistoric beasts to try to use them to cause chaos; Janine accidentally gets cryogenically frozen for millions of years because comic book science... truly the opportunities are endless when you are willing to tolerate as broad an array of only vaguely scientific bullshit as mainstream superhero comics are

Mostly it'd depend on what kind of situation you'd want her to arrive in, basically!
