Generally speaking, the game is slow-to-medium in pace, and tends to pick up during events, which happen every few months. We aren't necessarily plot-heavy, but the game does have an overarching plot going on, that does come up every few events. It's extremely open to player-run plots, and encourages characters to go out and explore the world.

But as long as she doesn't have to start again from the bottom and come in as some AU'd champion then I'm sold

We can probably work to have her be some kind of Champion OOCly, although ICly she'll be required to be at the starting level like everyone else. The basic conceit of the setting is that it's about 500 years after a cataclysmic war where the Pokemon almost wiped out humanity, so things like Gyms don't really exist anymore and Pokemon aren't captured, but instead bonded with. In her case I'd say she's probably prodigiously talented and likely a member of one of the major organizations, possibly the Rangers, who go out into the wilderness and scout. We're pretty open to working with you on that.

Like pokemon, I can respect that you have a set list of starters so people don't go power tripping on their first day. But Cynthia's default pokemon will always be a Garchomp, which is a pseudo legendary, so I'm guessing not a good thing to come in with. But asking her to start over with someone new would be like asking Red to come in without Pikachu or Steven without Metagross...in my opinion anyway.
Then there's her possible role. I assume, since she's going to be AU'd to fit this world, that'd mean she'd be considered a native? Maybe? And by being a native, she should have been there for the whole thing and should have a little more experience than most people when it comes to handling the world. Not saying she should be super perfect and be high ranking and junk. But her original self IS a champion, and in a world where technically there is no league, how do you AU that? What are her other options besides rangers that would make it feel like I'm still playing a champion and not some other protag?
idk, the FAQ doesn't really clarify things for people who want to come in with slightly high ranking pokemon characters like gym leaders or elites...or it does and I completely missed it.

Something we try to emphasize is taking a bit of separation from the core mechanics and how you construct your AU. While yes, your character (if you choose the Enlightened route) and your starter Pokemon begin at level 12, you have a lot of freedom to construct their role in the setting as one of power and respect. Looking at what you're going for, she may actually want to look at the Sword of the Savior, they're the elite force within the city of Union, typically nobility or exceptionally talented individuals. She could ICly be a member of some stature in the Swords, which is a route a number of other characters who in canon have high rank have taken (two in particular, Garen Crownguard from League of Legends and Ky Kiske from Guilty Gear come to mind). If you prefer, there are more scholarly angles as well, I guess that just depends on if you want her to be more combat focused or more scholarly focused since if memory serves she does both. Or you can have her be part of two organizations and have everyone be baffled at how she has the free time to do it.

and still have time to brush her hair in the morningseems like something she'd do. If that's okay with you guys, I'd totally try that part out. But okay, I'm looking at the professions right now, and is there a limit to how many she could be? Because canon-wise, Delver, Historian and Pokemon researcher would also fit her pretty well. SHE LIKES KEEPING HERSELF BUSY OKAY;;;;But in my head, I think the only way I could make the whole AU thing work is if she's already affiliated with a garchomp in some way. Right now I'm thinking she knew a garchomp in childhood, lost contact with it and suddenly, out of the blue, she finds a gible egg and stuff. Meaning if you guys would actually permit a gible starter, that's seriously the only thing stopping me at this point.

As for the 'search' we just mean that in lieu of doing any Pokemon searches or gaining levels the first week in the game, she's threading to get her special starter instead.

also explain the enlightened abilities section. I know the two types and the ability that I want for her but do I just write god of war, dark/dragon? Or do I have to sugar coat stuff?

Enlightened Abilities are here and you are not required to give an explanation of the types and Ability you choose, though you can if you'd like. God of War and Dark/Dragon is fine.
