A T A R A X I O N

You wake up, alone in the dark. There's a breathing tube jammed down your trachea, and you're suspended in a tube of clear blue fluid. Upon registering your level of consciousness, the gravity couch drains the fluid surrounding you and retracts the breathing apparatus; the doors in front of you open, and you're deposited on the floor of a stark, sterile, empty medical bay.

Don't worry. The disorientation usually wears off in less than thirty-six hours.

Ataraxion is a panfandom science-fiction/psychological horror RPG set in a universe not so different from our own. The game is primarily a character-driven jamjar, with an overarching plot that will conceal story elements from both the player base and the PCs. Characters will arrive in-game on the Titan-class colonization ship Tranquility, waking from grav couches located in the ship's medbay. The ship (mysteriously bereft of all original crew members, save two) is heading towards a way home—a deep-space jump point known only as Ataraxia. From there, according to the captain, characters will be able to return to their universes.

Over two years old, Ataraxion is a slow-paced game with a large plot every second month and a variety of minor monthly occurrences. Our monthly Activity Check is one post or one log or ten comments, and backtagging is welcomed and encouraged. We have characters from a variety of mediums, including television, film, books, webcomics, video games, comics, anime and manga. We love lone canon warriors and accept CR AUs and original characters.

Brave New World is a community-based AU Pokémon game focused around exploration, discovery, and plot. In the distant past, the Legendary Pokémon lead armies to destroy the human civilization that had long enslaved them. Now, 500 years later, the remaining human civilizations are once again connecting, although not always on friendly terms. The players take on the role of citizens of the city of Union, and their objective is to once again expand the knowledge and civilization of the human race while avoiding the sins of the past.

A slow-to-medium paced game with an over-arching plot, events take place roughly every month. In addition to this, we encourage players to suggest and run player plots, as well as help influence the world that their characters inhabit.

About the Game:

Maison De Portes is a pan-fandom survival horror/mystery game. The potential for death and harm to come to your characters is almost guaranteed. The game is prose-only, with a very easy activity check. We have multiple story paths, with endings to be decided by the actions of the characters. The game is slow to mid paced, fairly small, with lots of chances for characters to work together to solve the situation they find themselves in. We are very backtag friendly and very willing to work around schedules, we feel that RP should be fun, not an additional job. Apps and reserves are currently open! SYSTEMWIDE is a panfandom science fiction and action/adventure game, based on the premise of The Matrix movies. Set within the same universe, but in a far flung future, the game takes place in the underground cities mankind has claimed for itself in the ongoing fall out of a war between human and machine. Game play also features the Matrix, a virtual reality that hosts a myriad of worlds, all taken from the canons of apped characters.

Characters have been or will be pulled from the lives they once knew to be real to participate in the survival of humankind, defending against the ever present threat of the machines. There will be war-like elements, smaller skirmishes, training and missions, and of course, the day to day living in the wrecked dystopia that they now have no choice but to call home.

route_29 is a panfandom, medium-paced game set in the wonderful world of Pokémon! Specifically, Route is set in the Gen IV, HeartGold/SoulSilver incarnations of Johto and Kanto, but with an available Pokédex up through Gen VI and plenty of exposure to elements of the other regions through mod-run events!

▶ No prior knowledge of Pokémon canon is necessary; we're very friendly to PokéExperts and complete newbies alike! As a predominantly slice-of-life game with regular mod-run events and plots, your Route experience can be as involved or as low-pressure as you make it; we've got a little something for everyone.

▶ We're also very open to player-run plots and villain-friendly — while participation in Team Rocket isn't mandatory for our more villainous characters, we're glad to put the ruthless organization's resources at their disposal when it comes to wreaking havoc on the nation!

▼ GAME BASICS

▶ Route is a journal-based game, but if the upkeep and maintenance of your journal's friends list is an issue, we keep the community's reading list updated for you so all you have to do is join the communities, the same as in any other game!

▶ We're medium-sized, with around 100 characters currently in play, and we run at a comfortable medium-slow pace: on average you're likely to see two to four new posts per day, but with natural fluctuations in speed — we run a little faster during events, and a little slower periodically. We're also very backtag-friendly!

▶ AC is quite manageable — just three proofs per month, which can be satisfied with any combination of posts, logs, or comment threads (totaling at least 10 comments, 5 from you and 5 from someone else).

▶ Our next app round is next weekend, with the app deadline on the 7th of February, midnight EST. If you're still not sure about Route, we currently have a GLORIOUS TEST DRIVE where you can mingle with our lovely player base and other app hopefuls! We hope to see you soon in the world of Pokémon!

Monad.exe is a panfandom technological/psychological horror RP inspired by the Master Reboot video game. This is a character-driven platform where your character will be introduced into a rapidly deteriorating environment. Despite the good-intentions behind the developers of Monad, the emotionally charged programming that surrounds each character ultimately proves to be too much for the servers to handle. The longer your character is in the game, the more prone they are to glitches. These hiccups in the data can manifest in a variety of different ways, tearing open past scars or exploiting your character’s innermost fears. The plot ensures monthly updates in an attempt to re-secure data, but sometimes even the updates can do more harm than good.

Each character will wake up in their own apartment that is decorated according to certain parameters in their personality. Keepsakes and mementos from their life will be available to them in their living space. You may control how much your character remembers about the circumstances of their passing, and how they respond to their environment as it shifts around them.

Applications are currently OPEN, but they close TONIGHT at 12am -5GMT. Reserves are not required to apply.

WELCOME TO PANEM

Katniss Everdeen's spark has set the world of Panem on fire, and the Capitol has been scrambling to beat down the flames ever since. President Snow is presented with two options if he's not to lose everything: Crush the rebellions with force, or pacify their anger. And when you have been murdering people's children for almost 75 years, that is no small task.

However, the Hunger Games cannot just end. The Capitol expects them, thrives off them, and although Snow is willing to pacify the Districts, he won't be seen as weak. He refuses to let them to forget what is waiting for them if they ever make one misstep, and now, it will be on their minds every day.

Now they can pull Tributes from all worlds, all realities, and all times. Unlimited Tributes, and not a drop of Panem's blood will be shed to fuel the rebellion's power. And the Capitol's power, its force, can be broadcast all day, every day.

The city loves the constant excitement, but not everyone is so pleased about it.

Now the Hunger Games never have to stop.

A stranger asks you a question and it made sense at the time so you answer with yes. The next thing you know, you're on a ship called the Neheda, and a vocoder-like voice is warning you about the toxicity levels of the air.

Wait, back up.

Here's what happened: you have been consigned to the Cosmic Demolition Crew to work for the Neheda Crew, and depending on the disclosure level they've assigned you, you're a bit stuck on the crew. You are now a CDC recruit, and your mission (which you may or may not have accepted knowingly) is to help them in their job: destroying worlds. The CDC (disease-related references unintended) once stood for Cosmic Development Contractors; they've obviously shed the last two words since they changed management a few... er, very long time ago. No one's really sure. The important part is you're now on payroll, and until your contract is fulfilled, you're not going anywhere.

It sounds worse than it really is. Your status of employment to the CDC guarantees the safety of your home world from the wrecking ball of the CDC — you're actually kind of a hero. The CDC will also guarantee you one material object of your choice — or a person of choice. They'll pay you what you want, as long as you deliver. And you have to deliver, or so help you, they'll take your paycheck out of your home planet. So buckle up and hang on, or whatever the phrases are where you're from.

You've got some planetary destruction ahead of you.

The TEST DRIVE MEME will be going up on February 26. Participation in the TDM (which will be game canon and happens mid-boss battle!) is required this round and there's a cap of 30 characters based on application strength, not timestamp. More details on this MOD POST ON APPLICATIONS.

So let me tell you about machines persecuting people that are secretly people inside machines made by other machines that are persecuting people. Or in other words: how much would it suck if your version of the Matrix was Battlestar Galactica, and you woke up to find out that your life is but a joke. See what I did there?

No, but seriously, picture this: you play a politician, an admiral, a Viper pilot, an engineer, a Cylon who wakes up to find out that he or she was a human player character all along? Identity crisis much? The world of the Matrix series has all these things, a political system to get involved in, a fleet, a nice ruined planet, food that makes processed lichen seem like a delicacy--it'll be just like home.

I'll be hopefully sending Kara Thrace to SW when apps open, and while she is one badass chick all on her own, I'd really love to see some BSG castmates come to the game too. I know you're out there! So that's my plea. Hi.

ABOUT US
❀ Kiseki is panfandom slice-of-life jamjar game set in the separate world of Miracle Country, a series of islands with all kinds of magical mishaps and circumstances. It seems a pleasant enough place, aside from some underlying creepiness (think Outo Country in Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle or cursed Storybrooke in Once Upon a Time).

❀ Kiseki is a CLAMP inspired (meaning series such as Card Captor Sakura, X/1999, Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle, and Magic Knight Rayearth – just to name a few), but no prior knowledge of the manga-ka is necessary to join – it’s great for both CLAMP enthusiasts and canon-blind appers.

❀ Kiseki has both game-wide events and player-run plots, with events tending to run on at least a monthly basis, ranging in themes from fluffy/shippy to more action/plot-heavy events. Events are also replayable, within reason, inviting more character-driven plotting. (Check out here and here for examples of our events, both fluffier and more action-packed!)

❀ Kiseki is a small game (13 players and 42 characters) with a small and friendly player base, very backtag friendly and accommodating to all tagging-speeds; we have a bi-monthly AC of 35 comments total or one open post.

❀ Reserves are always open and last for one week, and the application itself is simple: no third person required!

❀ The game pace is overall medium-paced, sometimes faster during events and comments tend more towards comment-spam rather than prose.

❀ The game is comm-based and gameplay consists of both open logs and journal entries posted through magically-connected paper journals.

❀ We are on insanejournal which means all free accounts get 100 free icons; insanejournal is currently on invite-code only, so please feel free to poke me if you need a code.

Our game is medium-small, pace is slow to moderate but picks up during events. We highly encourage player plots and there's also moderator-run events as well. Empatheias is a large, floating island and is the last remnant of a destroyed world. Its only city, Verens, is a somewhat strange place with its steampunk design and magitech technology. No two buildings ever seem to look the same, but perhaps it's not just because of the nature of its fashion. Emotions also help to change and sometimes warp the city and the island itself. Through these emotions, the island continues to grow, revealing more about what happened to the world below. These emotions can also play a role in much smaller ways. A simple laugh can illuminate a room, an angry outburst can shatter windows. The grass can both grow and wither depending on who is standing on it.

These emotions are collected in special crystal amulets and it is this amulet that you will rely on throughout your stay. As you meet and interact with people, explore the world, and go about your daily life, it will fill with the various emotions you experience. Keep it close, for it may prove to be the key to returning home.

Until then, get to know your new "home" and neighbors. Who knows what will be revealed next?

UPDATE: The game plot has advanced to introduce new beings of the world—Arehtei. Along with their introduction is the concept of emotion alignments. A recent mod announcement has also indicated that the game is shifting to pursue the exploration campaigns. Things look like they're ramping up!

ADSTRINGENDUM

A failed invention, science that went horribly wrong, an equation that wasn't meant to be... the space-time that held reality together collapsed, caving and distorting the world into something no one recognized. At least... not as a whole.

For those that survived, the world they found themselves in was familiar and strange at the same time. Creatures and beings thought never to exist outside of the imagination were suddenly real. The scientists sought to explain the mystery, and began to realize that it was no, in fact, that the universe had collapsed or broken in...

...It was that time itself had compressed, and the fluctuations of the every changing and growing universe were pressed into one point, bringing into existence things long gone and things to come.　Peoples from different worlds and different times, billions of years and different universe collapses and rebirths apart, all in the same place.

While all the new groups of beings find themselves together, the Unified Universe Project is determined to try and reverse the effects, and return space and time to their normal states. While the confused wander the broken mishmash of landscapes, some beings do not take lightly to have their existence so altered.

adstringendum is a slow-to-medium paced game set in a ruined, post-apocalyptic city. Even the safe parts of the city aren't as safe as one might hope, and regular (usually bi-monthly) events can make things even more difficult - or at least more interesting. The events can range from light-hearted to very dark, but usually Adstringendum's genre is post-apocalyptic survival with some horror elements.

We are community-based, and while we don't allow AUs or canon OCs, most other characters are welcome. We've been around for awhile, and we're very welcoming to new players! Reserves are currently open, and there is a test drive meme open as well. Apps open on [DATE].

ten_fwd is a community-based jamjar with a twist game that takes place within the Star Trek: The Next Generation universe. There is an overarching plot that characters are invited to contribute toward: they have been ported to the Enterprise by Q, who has marooned your character in the far future with the TNG crew; however, you are also invited to make your own mischief, and most if not all game plots will be optional.

While the ultimate goal is at first to rein in Q, there's going to be plenty of room for slice-of-life shenanigans and missions to distant planets, with organized quarterly events. ten_fwd is backtagging friendly and runs at a medium-slow pace. Welcome to the Warehouse.
The Agents of the Warehouse have been tasked with keeping the world safe from dangerous Artifacts. They travel the world, searching for these objects with mystical powers, and bring them back to the Warehouse for safe storage. Unfortunately, not everyone believes Artifacts should be tucked away and out of the hands of the general public. And some wish to take down the Warehouse altogether.

An Artifact has been broken in two – on accident or on purpose, the Agents haven’t yet figured out. What is clear is that when the Artifact was broken, it tore a hole in the barriers between this reality and all the other universes that exist.

In its broken state, this Artifact has started pulling people from their universes into this one. Innocent lives, ripped from their home, out of space and out of time, with no way back until the Agents find the missing half of the Artifact and make it whole again.

Worse, it seems someone is bent on making not only the Agents’ lives difficult, but the lives of all these people now in the Agents’ care as well. The Agents are scrambling to find the broken part of the Artifact and fix the tear between universes. They are doing all that they can, but it might not be enough.

To all those the Artifact has pulled to this universe, let us just say: Welcome to the Warehouse.

The Warehouse is a panfandom RPG on Dreamwidth set in the Warehouse 13/Eureka universe. It is open to all fandoms. Canon characters, Canon OCs, and Canon AUs are welcome. You've been going about your life as you normally do. Fighting, transforming, flirting, falling in love, winning competitions, attending school, singing your heart out-- whatever it is they normally do. That's when it happens: you get pulled out of your universe--

Okay, no, that's not what happens. Life goes on, just as it always has, but you can't seem to get the internet to leave you alone. Maybe you don't even know what internet is! There's just this really strange duck perched on your computer screen, in your book, taking over your mirror, and it's accompanied by a magical internet community called Drama Drama Duck.

The name might be a little confusing, but it looks like there are other people on this website. Sometimes it'll start recording you unexpectedly, sometimes it will be there for you when you're having a tough time, sometimes it'll straight-up screw with you.

The Community, as it's known by its userbase, is a cross-universe blogging website that won't go away until your character uses it and interacts with other characters from other series (worlds). It looks like Dreamwidth and acts like Dreamwidth, but it's connected to the worlds of multiple canons and allows your characters to meet new people from other universes while still going through canon events. Avert unfortunate events, make your character's life better (or worse) by interacting with other characters, or even just have your character's life ruined by monthly events and viruses!

dramadramaduck is the non-jamjar game that asks the hard-hitting questions: What would REALLY happen if fictional characters met on the internet?

Welcome, Fellow Traveler! The elevator pitch: Exiles meets Diana Wynne Jones’ Homeward Bounders. If you’re familiar with Sliders or Quantum Leap, there’s a bit of that too.

Synodiporia is an AU-hopping panfandom exploration game where ‘event’ and ‘setting’ are one and the same. Unknown entities have gathered a group of people from across the multi-verse, and sent them on a long, strange journey together, crashing into one world after another, meddling in local affairs, and then whisking them off again. In each world some of the travelers are ‘investigators,’ conscious of the fact that they’re new arrivals in a foreign dimension, and some are ‘infiltrators,’ believing themselves to be natives, immersed in local customs, with implanted memories of a life that never was.

As the travelers progress from world to world, they learn new skills - from the natives or from one another. In prohibition-era Brooklyn, gangsters might teach someone how to shoot a tommy gun. In a fantasy kingdom, you might pick up a little wizardry. A PC from the Persona franchise might teach you how to unlock your own Persona, no matter what canon you’re from. You can also learn to manipulate the psychic network linking everyone together, gaining telepathic or dimensional manipulation abilities. As you change the worlds, the worlds change you.

We accept all original characters as well as alternate universe and previous game versions of characters, and under certain conditions, we also can accept multiple versions of the same character. When you apply, your character can be new to Traveling, or a veteran who’s been doing this for quite some time. More information about veteran Travelers can be found on the Previous Universes & Acquiring Skills pages, as well as suggestions for introing a veteran character here.

Besides that, there will be additional mini-events in pocket universes, player plots, dream explorations, Shadow Selves… and the ongoing investigation into the mysterious forces that drew you here. You’re pawns in a game spanning time and space, but a pawn who advances far enough can make big changes, and there are plenty of secrets to uncover.

Our upcoming app round runs February 1st-7th, after which we’ll have our Shoujo/Otome Plot, Doki Doki no Gakuen, ins which high school rivalry blossoms into friendship and romance, and competitive students work to fill one another's moe-meters, sabotage hammerspace resources, and sparkle with determination.

We have a cap of 100 characters, however we currently have about 50 characters, so we have plenty of room for new faces! We do not currently have reserves, but we highly recommend if you are interested in applying to post to the test drive and get to know some of our current characters.

lastvoyages is highly focused on character development and interactions. It's set on a physics-defying barge in unknown space, where everyone on board is either an inmate or a warden. Wardens are there to redeem inmates in exchange for absolutely anything! The Admiral fulfills their deal once they graduate an inmate. Deals can range from something as simple as wealth and riches to something as selfish (and/or noble) as the return of a deceased loved one. Inmates have died or are near death (canonically or under an invented circumstance), and are in need of a second chance: they get that opportunity on the Barge.

The game is of a medium size and pace, journal based with an easy AC, with several small game wide events a month. It's a CR intensive game, often focusing on the serious side of redeeming morally corrupt or gray characters - but with cracky storylines and events worked in to lighten things up.

Applications are always open! If anyone has questions or concerns about apping a character, we do have a potential apps page, where members can chime in and give input on any character you're thinking of apping. We also have a regular voice test meme!
