Potential Apper

Hello! My friend and I are thinking of applying here, and I had a question about back story/world destruction!

Our characters are both very average boys from Earth in a very realistic setting. We've come up with a plausible way for Earth to go Ka-BOOM!, but we are curious as to how characters like them (with no current access to spaceshippery and being really unfantastical) get from their newly destroyed planet to the S.S. Thor....

Is there a general protocol or is it also something left to our imagination/decision?

Honestly I think it's however you would like! If someone else has a better answer than me atm then by all means feel free to correct/add on to this but as to how I've always understood it: Some people have arrived in their own spaceships or through various other means or just wound up there without explanation. It's pretty open to interpretation.

First off, hello! It's nice to meet you! I was actually hoping potential appers would swing by with questions, so this is a little exciting for me.

This is actually not a problem! The S.S. Thor is a refugee-gathering ship, meaning it has vaguely explained technology (probably something to do with wormholes, since arrivals come from drastically different points of time and space) which will pick up characters straight off their home world and bring them right to the Arrivals section of the Thor. Characters are typically not even aware of their planet's destruction until the Vogon at the desk tells them about it.

However, if you have a more creative idea on how you would like your character to arrive on the Thor, go for it! I've personally had a character who was discovered on one of the planets that the ship was visiting, and I know that many who were enabled by our fourth wall event simply assumed their character transferred ships.
