Oooh, Yosuke! Could I perhaps interest you in soul_campaign? It's a DW game that takes place in the Soul Eater universe with an overarching plot and set at a medium pace. Characters take on the role of either Meister or Weapon in a war against Witches. We currently have Kanji and Naoto from Persona 4 and would love to see our cast grow.

I don't want to name names because it's all up in the air at this point, but I'm considering Dinoverse, maybe The Last Dragonlord, Vogelein, possibly the Diana Tregarde Investigations... but I'm really more interested in settings than casts.

I'm looking for games which don't involve pulling characters in just to be tortured by faceless untouchable whatevers which can't be resisted. Ones where characters have some real in-game purpose for being there, even if they're not volunteers or specifically picked. Though that's nice. I'd like to get into something that's not without hope and offers in-game choices and chances to affect or change things about the setting.

Less important, but I'm also interested in games which allow carryover from prior games, games with an active and not too insular OOC thing going on, games where the setting isn't a miniscule inescapeable area, and games with some kind of overarching plot. AUs, memory loss, powerloss, journal based, forced humanization, permadeath, on IJ, are all fine. Though if there's anything with all of that at once I'd laugh.

You may want to check out boomtown! It's very new and very small so you'd basically be getting in on the ground floor. The premise is based on characters volunteering to help colonize a new planet, so it's very open to character-instigated developments, but the mod also has an overarching plot in the works.

Might I recommend ryansgulch as a possible place to look? It's set in the world of Bioshock, before the fall of Rapture-characters can be AUd into the setting or brought in as canon. Though the game does seem to have a lot of live action, they're quite friendly to animanga characters, and it's rather slow paced. Power nerfing isn't required, and it's incredibly player plot friendly.

oh hi stranger! you might remember me and my dumb Assassin from dear_mun? I play Connor over at dragonhaven, where we just got a Haytham and might potentially get an Aveline, and we'd love to see Altaïr. I really enjoyed threading with him. *^*

DH is community-based, medium-paced with relaxed AC requirements, and there's a lot of open world freedom which gives characters plenty of opportunities to use their skills. Connor, for instance, has the Aquila, lots of places to hunt, and he's focusing his attention on a slave liberation movement. There's a lot of combat oriented events, too, so Altaïr shouldn't be short on things to do.

Hm, don't know if I can convince you entirely, but I'll try.

soul_campaign is a plot-heavy DW game set in the Soul Eater universe. The pace is fairly medium and most players are very backtag friendly for players unable to post on certain days. In-game time is a ratio of 3:1 where about three IRL days is one day in game. It's like a power loss, but powers are more changed due to the nature of the game. Applied character becoming either Meisters with unique Soul Abilities, or Weapons with specified attacks that become stronger the more souls collected.

The regular events are based on character canons, so depending on the characters in the game they can be horror, humor, comedy, drama, or just something utterly bizarre. Plus, you get to create a mirror alter ego of your character, created by the Queen of Hearts, with its own agenda and plots! Our player base welcomes lone canon warriors with open arms, and you'll have no trouble at all getting plenty of CR all over. Plus, we have an AIM group chat for those interested in chatting.
