I have a few characters, and I'm looking more for certain kinds of settings than cast.

I'm wondering if there's some games out there that fit any of these needs (not necessarily all in the same RP! Just fulfilling one is fine):


-A game that allows a character that technically exists in a canon (and even has a name), but never shows up in the canon (so he would be constructed with a lot of headcanon).

-A game that revolves around pairing characters up long-term somehow. Any kind, like a working partnership or a romantic partnership, whatever.

-A game that lets characters get involved in espionage (like if some organization is in control, can my character spy for and/or against them?).

I can't help directly with the first or second, but I do have a game for the third point: savetheearth. It's an AU game; characters are reincarnated as different people and regain memories, possessions, and powers from their former selves over time. One of the things I've liked most is that it's got a very strong plot that's mod-run, but very player-driven. The question isn't "what can I do" with a lot of what goes on, but "if I do this, what happens?" And that's a very interesting thing. We've had characters infiltrate shadowy organizations, bail people out of jail, join NPC organizations and actually do things as a member of them, and so on, and the plot acknowledges characters that have roles in such organizations and can give them information there's no other way to readily retrieve. We're wrapping up the first season of the plot, so apps are closing in the next 18 hours for a little while, but when they re-open, it might be worth a look if this sounds like something you'd be up for?

Hello! I play MCU! Steve over at luceti. Currently on the MCU front we also have Peggy Carter, Thor, and Loki. We would love to add to our cast and a Bucky would be wonderful. In the game characters are brought to a village surrounded by a forest. They wake up with a pair of wings attached to their backs that cannot be damaged out cut off because then death happens! Behind everything is an organization called the Malnosso who occasionally cause strange events to happen (sometimes these events include some AU influences but everything can be opted out of). Have you thought of checking out dramadramaduck? It seems to fit all of these preferences. The only thing a bit off is that you do have the option to use your journal but it's not at all required.

It also gives you the option of staying on your home world and moving through canon. If can go the way it always has or things you do on the community can change it. There's always ways to go to other worlds, too.

It IS a journal based game, but there is a handy Reading List so you don't have to worry about maintaining one yourself. bear with me because this is an off-the-beaten-path game, but you should consider bringing regina to knightsoflegend.

the game is hugely plot-oriented because it's based off of a d&d campaign that the mod ran via tabletop initially for years. d&d style character sheets and dice-rolling is an optional but REALLY FUN part of the game which helps determined character abilities, battle outcomes, etc.

characters fall through the veil and lose an amount of memory that you determine (could be anywhere from something tiny like her mother's name to forgetting daniel or henry entirely, or forgetting her whole life pre-storybrooke, etc.), the goal of which is to make characters stop actively trying to go back through the veil to their own world. basically, however much you deem is necessary to make them stop actively fighting for that, because it never happens in this game world. characters who are dropped are simply rendered inactive and cannot be apped by anyone else unless that same player chooses to bring them back. no one ever goes home, so the memory loss component is to make that easier.

once they arrive in the world of kol - which is like our world, but merged with magical elements that have been coming through the veil historically; very urban arcana, very awesome for ouat characters - they are recruited by the knights of the silver dragon, and are sent away on missions according to their skills. regina could cast some seriously awesome magic as a d&d-style wizard (wizards learn via spellbooks vs sorcerers who have innate magic). there's a "main plotline" mission that, as it progresses, is spreading out to incorporate other mission teams as well, and those tertiary missions are always tailor made to foster character growth for the people who are sent on them and contribute in the long-term to the main storyline of the game.

there is no activity check, but rather, threading is rewarded via and experience point system for helping characters to level up (handy if you do choose the character sheet/dice rolling option, and still stress-free if you don't). in terms of ouat characters, we have: emma, hook, gold, belle, charming, snow, and peter pan.

I actually have need of two of your characters at high_seas, for very different reasons. Our Tales of the Abyss cast would love a Mieu; we've got the entire main party except Natalia, plus Asch, and an Ion on reserve. Characters have been brought to this world to search across the seas for shards of a legendary ruby, and band together on pirate ships to travel. The pace isn't too bad, and you have access to a network comm over magical journals each character possesses, plus a log comm for on-ship stuff.

There is jaegeracademy, which is a Pacific Rim AU game where characters either join the program to become Jaeger pilots, or are teaching those characters.

The AC is pretty unique, where you have to rack up 100 points over three months. The points are awarded for concluding threads, the number of comments you have in a thread, and the first time tagging a character. A more detailed explanation is in the FAQ.

...y'know, I've actually got a game that might be able to help with that. I play a couple of characters over at savetheearth, which is an AU game. Characters have been reincarnated into new forms, and regain memories, possessions, and powers over time - when they do get powers back, they're usually unrestricted, unless you'd destroy the city as a matter of course when one went off. I am kind of going the opposite direction on a few of your points, though; the characters' goal is to save the Earth from an alien plot they (and we) are learning about over time, with a conspiracy that includes the police and a major local corporation making life difficult for the reincarnates. The plot tends to be action-heavy when it comes calling, though; we're gearing up for a big battle to defeat something that can pretty much wipe out the city, and we've got everything from magical girls (like Winter here, reincarnation of a Precure) on up to Gundam pilots, and almost everything in between.

Good luck on your search; I know there are a lot of games that don't meet any of those criteria, so it'll be a little bit of a hunt.

Ugh, I absolutely love Heat. I'm a little too rusty with Argilla or Serph to offer them and I can't foresee myself getting to a canon review anytime soon, but ugh. Anyway, if you're willing to consider sol, I'd suggest hollyheights, but I just joined smashacademy and everyone seems pretty swell; it's technically not a jamjar, which was a pull for me.
